A Promising Youth novel Chapter 11

After we returned to the conference room, the scene, which had been noisy, was instantly silent.

Director Lau put out his cigarette, asked Clara with a frown.

“Do you take it?”

“Yes!”

She looked at me anxiously and said awkwardly because she didn't know my name.

“You... you hurry...”

“Yes!”

I immediately nodded at her and held up the design in my hand, and that's when I realized that people's designs, which were drawn on computers, could be displayed directly on the projector, while mine, which were hand-drawn, had no way to be enlarged for viewing.

“Ha!”

The woman who owned JL Company didn't hold back her outright laughter as she pointed to the drawing in my hand and said.

“Director Lau, Miss Clara makes a fool of herself, casually drawing something with a colored pen and daring to bring it over for bidding. She doesn't put you in her eyes.”

Director Lau darkened his face instantly. I got sweat over my body. She was right, we were not professional like this.

Luckily, Clara came over in time and put the drawing in my hand directly under an instrument. I later learned it was called a “laser projector”, which could project images on paper directly onto the wall.

As I was thinking the fact that there was something so high-tech in the world, the scene was suddenly silent, so quiet that the breath could be heard.

Turning around, I looked my own designs on the wall. After being enlarged a dozen times, even I didn't expect that they could be so beautiful. The men's clothes were masculine, while the women's clothes were noble and elegant, with the designs that were not flashy but charming.

“Clara, is this... really designed by your company?”

Director Lau froze!

Clothes were like the relationship between men and women. With a glance, you would know if the person was who you liked.

“No way.”

A voice broke the silence, and it was the woman from JL Company, who stood up with her teeth bared and pointed indignantly at my design.

“Blue Butterfly is only a textile factory, how can they design such products?!!! They must have copied someone else's. Director Lau, I think it has to be investigated strictly.”

This woman's words were vicious. I pointed to the design and said, suppressing the tension in my heart.

“Miss, I drew it just now. If you don't believe it, you can come over and look at it, the paint on it is not even dry yet.”

She burst into anger, raised her hand to point at me and yelled.

“Where the hell did you pop up?! Who let you into this conference room? And your design is average. Isn't it just a Zhongshan suit? It's rustic and old style. Do you know how high profile this economic summit is!!!”

“Carrie Shaw, it's enough. It's not up to you to judge whether their design is good or not.”

Director Lau stood up, looked at Clara with a slight sigh of relief, turned to the crowd again and said.

“This design is not bad! Although moderate, but we represent R City this time, there is no need to dress too high-profile and fancy, or those foreign companies will have a problem with our city.”

“Director Lau, look at this design, they even got a gold pattern, isn't it also fancy?!”

This woman called Carrie Shaw was picky!

“Well then, Mr. Matteo, if I'm right, what really stands out about this design of yours, especially for men's wear, is neither the shape of the garment nor the gold pattern, but its color, right?”

My eyes narrowed and I nodded slightly. I didn't expect this foreigner could understand it.

He pursed his lips and added.

“Without this color underlining this design of yours, it wouldn't bring out that vibe at all, right?

In other words, if you used another color, even a hint of color difference, your costume would never compete with us!”

He was right. After all, this design, which I came up with in only 10 minutes, really wasn't as good as his set in terms of a lot of detailing.

“Mr. Andrews, what are you trying to say?”

I asked, looking at him suspiciously.

He shook his head with a smile and said.

“This color can only be rendered on a drawing board, and it is impossible to dye it into cloth. At least as far as I can remember, no one has ever been able to dye this gray! You can't make clothes without cloth of the same color, can you?”

Hearing this, Carrie burst out laughter,

“So that's how it is! Director Lau, this design and ready-made clothes can be in difference. If you use their scheme and the clothes do not match the color, it will make you a fool in front of the leaders?!”

But Director Lau, who was staring intently at my design, took a long time to ask.

“Young man, if I'm right, the color you're using should be called ‘General Grey’ Right?!”
