After sorting the ruckus, Luther returned to find that Sage was nowhere to be seen. He scanned the place and found the woman dressed in red having the time of her life on the dance floor.
Sage had become the center of attention on the dance floor. She was surrounded by a group of men who were cheering and whistling at her.
“Oh Sage, my dear…”
It had been ages since Luther last saw Sage letting her hair down. Under the bright and colorful lights, accompanied by the rhythmic dance music, Sage was bouncing and grooving to the beat, showing off her attractive physique.
At the bar, a man who had been admiring Sage for some time finally made his way to the dance floor. He stood close to her, and his hands were making their way to her hips.
“Shit!” cursed Luther when he saw how Sage was about to be taken advantage of. He was just about to make his way onto the dance floor when he heard a loud gasp.
Sage had reacted faster than Luther. She grabbed the man’s arms, threw him over her shoulder, and gave him a slap on the face before screaming, “How dare a peasant like you put your hands on me! You’ve got some guts, don’t you?!”
Apart from the thumping music, the club was silent. People stared in shock at the gorgeous woman who had suddenly turned into a terror.
Not only was she a good dancer, but she was also a good fighter.
Still feeling drunk, Sage was about to kick the man when Luther hurried over to stop her. He dragged her from the dance floor and sat her down at the bar. He poked her head and said, “You’re here to turn the club upside down, aren’t you?”
“Luther,” Sage mumbled while looking at Luther. Her eyes were unfocused. “Tell me. Wasn’t I attractive just now?”
Luther scolded peevishly, “Sure! Those men were staring at you like a pack of hungry wolves. They looked like they would devour you alive!”
“Then why don’t Jace like me?”
Sage was drunk and her guard was down. At this moment, the strong and tough Sage was long gone, and instead, Luther saw a hurt and lonely Sage.
“Do you know that I’m actually a person with no large ambitions? My biggest dream is to find a person that I love and be a good wife. It’s a pity that he doesn’t want me, right? I was married to him for three years. Through those years, I gave my all as his wife. But, he did not even acknowledge me, let alone touch me! Tell me, Luther! What is so repulsive about me?”
Seeing Sage behave this way broke Luther’s heart. He stretched out his hand and patted her head. “Nonsense, of all the women I know you are the best. It is his loss that he is unable to appreciate you.”
“Yeah, it’s his loss.”
Sage grinned and continued, “From today onwards, I will never change myself for a man. I want to be myself: the brave, independent, and confident Sage Norah.”
…
Back at the apartment, Sienna was dressing Jace’s hand. With a pitying look on her face, she asked, “Is it painful?”
Jace shook his head and touched Sienna’s swollen cheek which was swollen. “How about you?” he asked in turn.
Sienna smiled softly and replied, “It was painful, but now that you’re here, I’m feeling much better.”
Jace sighed softly, “I’m sorry to have put you through this.”
