Chapter 400
When Sage came out from the ward, she saw Jace sitting on the bench outside the ward. He was holding a thin cigarette in his hand, but it was not lit.
He sat there with a stiff expression like he almost froze there.
The door to the ward was not closed earlier. Perhaps, he had overheard her conversation with Lulu. Then, he must have overheard the four words she said.
The two looked at each other. In just a split second, Sage moved her gaze and marched straight forward.
Jace squeezed the cigarette and trembled a little. His throat felt dry.
He could only blame himself, so he shut his eyes and cursed himself.
Sage headed to Asher’s ward. She could hear Yoel yelling at Asher even from a distance. “Hey, tell me. What are you doing? Are you an idiot? Did you lose your mind?” “Do you think your injury isn’t serious enough? Do you want to hurt yourself again? If you don’t want to live anymore, tell me. I’ll kill you and cut your neck at once. I will guarantee you a quick and easy death!”
Sage smiled slightly. Yoel’s words had never been nice to listen to, but what he said today was pleasing to hear.
Yoel’s mouth was dry after scolding for a long time. At last, his voice gradually lowered. “Hey, Asher. Don’t be so ignorant. You’re blessed to have Lulu. She’s such a nice girl. Cherish her.”
Yoel put his hands on his waist with a speechless face. “I don’t understand. Why do good girls like heartless men like you people? Your heart is stone cold. Why would they like you?”
“Her injuries are quite serious.”
Sage did not intend to comfort him. “She has more than twenty wounds on her body. The cut on her calf almost hit an artery. The wound on her back is even more serious. If it’s a little bit deeper, she would’ve died before you.”
Asher’s face changed immediately upon hearing that, and he almost fell, but Yoel quickly supported him.
“Hey, your injury hasn’t healed yet. Can you stop it?” “I…” Asher grabbed Yoel’s arm and pleaded, “I want to see her.”
Yoel could not bear staring at Asher’s pleading gaze. He turned to Sage, only to see a cold face with an icy gaze. Sage’s voice remained emotionless. “Don’t you dislike her and want to break up? Why are you showing this worried look now? Are you showing us your affectionate side now? Are you trying to prove that you’re not a merciless person?” She was unkind with her words. Yoel broke into a cold sweat listening to it and kept hinting at Sage to restrain herself. He had no choice but to remind her, “He’s a patient. Please be kinder….
“He’s a patient, so what? Must everyone around you accommodate your nonsense just because you’re sick? Do they deserve to be hurt and scolded by you? Is that your reasoning?
