Zayne too was excited for Jace. He was stunned that Sage was reaching out first to Jace. Jace finally came back to his senses. In a lightning move, he quickly sent an invitation message to Sage. In Zachary’s messaging account that Jace used, there was only one contact and it was Sage. 

Jace first added his contact into Zachary’s messaging account before forwarding his contact to Sage. He felt his heart thumping loudly against his chest as he was worried that Sage would catch on. 

Sage then replied: (Got it, thanks!] 

Jace replied with a welcome and he quickly swapped to his phone and noticed Sage’s request to add her to his messaging account. 

In a hurry, he quickly accepted her request and his phone nearly slipped out of his hand. Zayne tried so hard not to laugh at Jace. 

He worked with Jace for a long time and this was the first time he saw Jace being this flustered. Jace looked like this was his first time being in love. 

After accepting her friend request, Jace pondered as to what message he should send to Sage. But before he could even type a word, Sage called him on the phone. 

Startled by the sudden phone call, Jace dropped his phone onto the floor. Picking up the phone quickly, Jace answered the call and held his breath. On the other end of the call was Sage. “Hey, this is Sage.” 

Jace suddenly lost his ability to speak. He thought that Sage’s voice sounded calm and slightly indifferent. After a pause, he replied, “Hey.” Zayne got frustrated as he watched Jace. Was that all Jace could say to Sage after wanting desperately to reach out to her? Jace’s heart beat fast but his mind went gone blank. Clearing his throat, he then asked, “How… how have you been?” 

Sage too felt slightly weird, hearing Jace’s voice on the phone. She was out of the country for too long but perhaps too many things happened between them, it seemed like she did not hear his voice for a long time. 

Regaining her composure, she replied, “I’m doing fine, thanks. There’s something that I need to talk to you about.” 

Jace too calmed himself down. “Go on… I’m listening.” 

“Are you looking into Sienna?” Jace already expected that she would bring up this. He responded, “Yes and I know that you’re looking into her as well. But I’m afraid that Peter would soon catch on that he’s being followed because two parties are looking into him. You can ask your guy to stop for now. I’ll inform you first if we get anything on Sienna and Peter.” He then went on, “I’m only looking into Sienna because of Jekyll and nothing else.” Jace was worried that Sage would misunderstand so he quickly explained himself. “Sure, sounds good to me.” Sage knew that Jace would not back down nor neither could she change his mind, hence she agreed to his request. “I also heard that your father, Chief Lucas, is also involved in this…” Jace responded, “He only wanted to get Luna out of jail and he isn’t aware that he is being used. I’ll talk to him about this but the decision is still his to make.”

“Right, okay.” Sage had no intentions of letting Luna off the hook easily. However, if Lucas made up his mind to be involved, Sage would not go easy on him too.
