"Maybe."
However, if Theo knew, there was no way he wouldn't have called Sierra at least once.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Madison's eyes lit up. "That must be Theo! I'll get it."
She jumped up, practically rushing to the door.
Sierra also looked up, a flicker of anticipation in her gaze as she watched the entrance.
Yet, when Madison swung the door open, her smile vanished instantly. Standing outside was Benson. Her face dropped, and she moved to slam the door shut without hesitation.
Benson reacted quickly, pushing against it with his hand before it could close on him.
Not nearly as strong as him, she struggled to force him out, her face full of hostility. "What the hell are you doing here, Benson? You're not welcome."
If only Lyonel were here—he'd gone out to buy groceries and probably wouldn't be back anytime soon.
Benson's gaze flickered past her to Sierra, who was sitting by the balcony. His eyes softened, filled with guilt. In a low voice, he mentioned, "I just wanted to see Cee."
"Cee doesn't want to see you. Leave now." Madison snapped, not bothering to be polite.
"I'm only here to apologize. That's it. I'm not here to argue."
"Cee doesn't want your apology. Got it?"
She tried hard to shut the door, but Benson pushed against it, and the two of them were locked in a standoff at the door.
