A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 274

Theo's voice was cool, but deep in his eyes, a trace of sadness flickered, almost imperceptible.

Sierra shook her head slightly as she explained in a gloomy tone, "Our marriage isn't like that of others. We didn't get married because we love each other. If one day you meet someone you truly like, we could get divorced at any time."

If they didn't make their relationship public, no one would know when they obtained a divorce. It would save them both a lot of trouble.

Understanding her reasoning, Theo released her chin and gently placed his hand on her head, letting out a helpless sigh. "We've only been married for a week, and you're already thinking about divorce. I don't know whether to be happy or sad about you being so considerate."

"Hm?" Sierra picked up on the fact that he wasn't angry and looked at him in confusion.

Theo's usual imposing presence softened, and the coldness in his eyes faded as he gazed at her with a hint of exasperation.

Feeling his hand press down slightly on her head, she blinked innocently. After a brief pause, she asked softly, "So… is it okay?"

The large hand on her head ruffled her hair twice, turning her soft curls into a messy fluff. Then, his voice came, steady and firm. "I don't see why we should hide our marriage from anyone."

Just as she thought about how to convince him, he added, "But I'll respect your choice. If you don't want to make it public, we won't—at least not until our wedding ceremony."

She breathed a sigh of relief, too relieved to even care that he'd messed up her hair. She didn't even catch the condition he had added at the end—only the part where their marriage wouldn't go public.

The next morning, she was still deep asleep when her phone rang, dragging her out of her dreams.

Without opening her eyes, she answered groggily, "Hello?"

Theo furrowed his brows slightly and lifted his right arm to cover his eyes as his mind gradually cleared.

As soon as he opened his eyes, the first thing he did was turn to look at Sierra. He lifted his left arm, which had been pinned under her, and pulled her into his embrace.

"Boohoo—Sierra, I just got dumped!

"That bastard waited until I was out of town to book a hotel room with someone else. I caught him red-handed, and he still had the nerve to deny it…"
