Something flickered in Melody's eyes as her smile quickly vanished. Then, she lowered her head and sat down. "Perhaps Ms. Shaw has some qualities to her that we just don't know about."
Seeing how sad Melody was, Lauren furiously threw her clothes to the side, exclaiming, "You have been by Mr. Gray's side for so many years. If Sierra had not appeared out of nowhere, you would have married him instead!"9
Melody did not answer, silently agreeing with Lauren's words. After a moment, she smiled bitterly and commented, "They're already married now, so it's too late to say anything now."
Scoffing, Lauren retorted, "So what if they're married? We can always just make them get a divorce."
Melody's heart raced, but she quickly frowned, looking uncomfortable with the suggestion. "Isn't that wrong of us to do?"
"What's wrong with that? A poor woman like Sierra does not deserve a man like Mr. Gray." Lauren's eyes were filled with contempt, and she did not bother to hide her hatred toward Sierra.
Sensing how angry Lauren was at Sierra, Melody looked worried as she pleaded, "The Shaw family used to be quite respectable. You shouldn't do anything reckless. If you offend Sierra, the Shaw family might hold it against you."
Lauren sneered coldly, and her expression was filled with disdain. "Hold it against me? If the Gray family had not been charitable enough to help them, the Shaws would have gone bankrupt ages ago."
Although the Crowford family could not compare to the Jones family or the Grays, they were far better off than the Shaw family. That was why Lauren had always looked down on Sierra's family background.
Seeing how Melody defended Sierra, Lauren continued in annoyance, "You don't have to worry about that. Just get ready to be his wife."
Melody was helpless as Lauren practically pushed her out of the room.
Outside the room, upon seeing Melody, Tessa immediately pulled her to a quiet corner. "What did Lauren tell you?"
Melody held Tessa's arm and repeated what Lauren had said without missing a beat. Her eyes were filled with mixed emotions as she stared at the potted plants before her.
"Tess, I really do like Theo, but why didn't he think of me first when he wanted to get married? If only he had just asked, I would have been willing to abandon my life abroad and return to marry him.
