Melody didn't dare to say that Felicia and Jason had ordered the test instead. She didn't want them to get into trouble.
Dozens of companies had donated, and half of them had problems. No one knew what might happen if the matter blew up.
For now, they wanted to start with Regallo and resolve the problem at its source. If they could keep it quiet, they would. After all, they still had to think about the orphanage.
Andrew panicked at the mention of a film crew. "Why didn't Madam Callahan tell me about a shoot?"
"She went to Regallo to discuss the school fees, but she couldn't find you," Melody mentioned.
He weighed his response. His face stayed stern, but it now held regret. "Mel, are you here to blame me? Think I withheld the kids' funds on purpose?"
She bit her lip and lowered her eyes. "That's not what I mean."
Andrew glanced at her, then remembered that Jeremy was still standing there. He let out a long, heavy sigh. "I honestly don't know how to explain this to you, but I'll go back and investigate every detail.
"You know Regallo handles a mountain of work. I can't watch every single thing myself. I never imagined they'd dare to do something this bold."
What he meant was that he knew nothing about the mess.
Melody felt she couldn't press further. She had no proof that Andrew knew, and he had already stated his position.
She also worried that if she pushed too hard, Regallo might decide to cut off all donations to the orphanage.
After all, a small orphanage was nothing compared to the whole Regallo empire and its partner companies.
The orphanage kids were already on the weak side and could never out-fight the capitalists.
In the end, Andrew calmed Melody down and told her to stay for dinner.
No matter how unhappy Laura felt, she said nothing.
