Felicia thought back to how Melody said that the people of the Regallo Charity Foundation had looked for Lydia.
At that thought, Felicia's heart sank, but she didn't let it show. Then, she exchanged a glance with Melody.
Naturally, Melody also sensed that there was something unusual about Lydia. She turned around and said to Jason, "Move all the things we brought to the cafeteria."
"Melody!" Lydia suddenly called out to her.
Puzzled, Melody asked, "Yes?"
Lydia awkwardly responded, "It's nothing. It's just that you guys must be tired after coming all the way here. You can leave the stuff here. We'll move them inside ourselves."
Everyone fell silent. Moments later, Melody said, "Did someone from the Regallo Charity Foundation talk to you?"
Lydia glanced at Melody before looking at Felicia and Jason too. Then, the smile she had plastered on finally faded. She bitterly chuckled and said, "Yeah, they did."
Then, she took them to her small office. Along the way, the expression she bore was one filled with guilt and conflict.
After the people from the Regallo Charity Foundation talked to her, Lydia could already guess what Melody and the others had done for the orphanage. However, what she'd done in return was the same as stabbing them in the back.
Meanwhile, Melody was much calmer than she'd imagined she would be. She asked, "Do you know about everything?"
Lydia fell silent for a while before she responded, "Yeah, they told me about the food supply and vaccines.
"Melody, Jason, at first, I was very upset as well. I chased them out." She dejectedly slumped to her chair.
Now that Lydia was in her 50s, she had no idea how long she still had with the orphans. The only thing she could do was secure them the best future she could offer them.
It might've been the biggest and cruelest lie Lydia had said, but it had to be done. As an ordinary person with no background, there weren't many choices left for her.
Felicia couldn't believe what she was hearing. She asked, "You knew about the horrible things they did. So, why did you choose to forgive them?"
