Melody's voice was full of joy.
Echo looked adorably clueless as it lay on its back with its round belly exposed.
It stared blankly at Jeremy.
The resemblance was uncanny—Echo and Melody both looked so naive.
Jeremy quickly withdrew his gaze and scanned the mess on the floor.
Indeed, it had all been arranged by him.
Initially, his intention was simply to prevent the puppy from making a chaotic mess. After all, arranging everything himself meant fewer problems later on.
But upon seeing Melody's face filled with genuine excitement and happiness, he wisely chose not to mention his original motive. Instead, he changed the topic. "Have you considered what I mentioned last time?"
"What?" Melody looked up, puzzled.
Jeremy lowered his gaze slightly and coldly repeated, "Which path are you choosing? Do you want to be a nurse or a model? The rumors online are getting worse, and the hospital is increasingly getting affected."
As Melody held Echo in her arms, she suddenly froze. She looked up at Jeremy and asked, "So, you know everything? You know I've been cyberbullied?"
Jeremy's expression did not shift. His eyes were cold and devoid of warmth, and his tone was chillingly indifferent. "It's been all over the Internet. Did you honestly think anyone wouldn't know?"
"I..." Melody opened her mouth but was unable to find the right words to answer him.
Eventually, she muttered, "I thought you didn't know." She had believed that Jeremy was unaware of the online bullying. She'd thought that that was why he'd buried himself in work, ignored all her messages, and hadn't said a single comforting word.
So, he knew everything from the start?
Melody suddenly felt lost and panicked a little.
She remembered the awful things that people said about her online. She couldn't bear to imagine what Jeremy had thought when he saw them.
