The whole mess lasted ten minutes before the security guards finally showed up and broke the fight up.
Melody had been on the ground, overwhelmed with the images of the middle-aged couple holding her.
The woman's hands dug into her as the man groped her wantonly, yet there was nothing she could do to break free. It felt like something filthy and obnoxious wrapped itself around her.
Melody clutched her knees tightly, lost in intense panic and revulsion. Then, a pair of long, slender hands reached out to her.
Jeremy was frowning at her, his expression solemn. His voice was deep when he spoke. "On your feet."
Staring at his extended pair of hands, she couldn't help but recall the sickening feeling all over again. Her face was deathly pale, and she was unable to give him any response.
Eventually, he had to pull her up to her feet, but she instinctively wanted to duck out of the way the moment he touched her.
However, he forcibly yanked her up.
Tiffany finally arrived. She darted over and checked Melody for injuries, only to find out that her arm was covered in patches of blue and purple. Her eyes immediately reddened.
Turning around, she charged at the middle-aged couple, raised her hand, and smacked the man. "You're a heartless monster! Shame on you for picking on a young lady!"
Caleb immediately pulled her back, but she turned and slapped his arm instead. "Get your hands off of me! Melody is being bullied, yet you're holding me back, instead of seizing the bad guy!"
Pointing at him, she roared, "All of you are hypocrites! You pretend to be her friends most of the time, but you all steer clear of her the moment things get real!
"I should've known. After the voting, I should've seen you guys for the hypocrites you are, especially you!" Tiffany pointed at Jeremy, her eyes turning red from anger.
"You've ignored Melody the entire time. Are you happy now? Does watching her getting humiliated like this feel good?
"Jeremy, you don't have what it takes to be a boyfriend at all! You had it coming when Melody dumped your sorry behind!"
Tiffany had always been close to Melody. The latter was meek and innocent, too. Combine that with the fact that Melody was years younger, she had always thought of Melody as her younger sister.
