A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 260

Shooting a gander at the side, Jeremy gazed at Melody. His pajamas hung loosely over him, revealing his chest. She was nuzzled right against the crook of his arm.

The gentle morning light sneaked its way into the bedroom through the gap in the curtain, gently warming the room and making it cozy. His gaze also became tender.

Melody's heart suddenly fluttered when she met Jeremy's gaze. Instinctively averting her gaze, she pulled herself away from his arms and intended to get out of bed.

However, he held fast to her waist and pulled her back into his arms. She gasped softly and looked at him, her eyes brimming with panic. "What are you doing?"

Instead of answering her, he put his palm on her forehead. It was still warm, but not as searing as before. It was only then that he responded. "I need to check if you're still running a temperature or any other discomfort."

Jeremy's palm moved downward and stopped at Melody's cheeks. The middle-aged couple had been so rough with her that there were still bruises. Then, he gently rubbed them.

She suddenly shuddered like a frightened bunny.

His voice was a little hoarse as he asked, "Does it still hurt?"

Melody was immediately taken aback. Pursing her lips a little, she shook her head. The bruises had stopped hurting long ago, but the trauma lingered in her heart.

What was more, she also knew that someone would publish the incident on the internet. She could imagine what they must've said about her, but she merely chose to bury her head in the sand.

Strands of hair stuck to Melody's cheeks as she curled up against the crook of Jeremy's arm, making her look particularly submissive. He wasn't one for sleeping in, but he lowered his gaze and stared at her.
