A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 268

Melody maintained her stand that Krystal must've played a part in this incident, be it a huge or tiny contribution. Maybe she had not done so in a direct manner, but she definitely did in a subtle way.

Melody wanted Dennis and Sybil to admit to it personally.

Jeremy was standing right behind her. Ever since he came into the ward, he hadn't spoken. That was because she made him promise that he would never join the conversation.

Melody distrusted Jeremy. He kept the whole thing a secret for a long time, which meant there was a chance he might take Dennis' side.

Dennis' expression changed the moment he heard 200,000 dollars. It was obvious that he was indeed an honest man most of the time. He couldn't lie even if his life depended on it.

He was completely stiff and had no idea how to respond to Melody.

She added, "Don't bother lying. I've seen your bank transaction record, and I've just verified it."

Dennis' expression became even grimmer, and he started to cough violently, his body swaying unsteadily.

Sybil was immediately startled and tore off her IV needle to catch him.

In a second, the guilt she felt toward Melody vanished without a trace. Melody was too ruthless when she had the advantage, which meant that she would definitely bully Krystal.

That said, Sybil didn't dwell on it. Instead, she gave Dennis a concerned look. Then, she shoved Melody out of the way and snarled, "He has said that he's willing to admit his crime. What more do you want from him?

"He has committed suicide, for God's sake! The worst thing you suffered was some jabs from the internet, while we almost died!

"I know you just want to use us to get evidence to wrongfully accuse Krys. Well, let me tell you. Call the police all you want, but she has nothing to do with this!

"We're ready to admit our crimes, but we won't do anything to harm Krys. Never!"

Sybil shielded Dennis behind her, looking like a mother bear protecting her cub. Raising her chin, she glared at Melody, her face laden with impatience.

Melody didn't expect Sybil to push her. It was good that Jeremy caught her from behind and prevented her from falling.
