A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 64

Upon seeing that Melody seemed to take her words to heart, Ophelia didn't press further and simply dropped Melody off at the apartment.

"If you need help, you can come to me. I'll do what I can," she added.

Melody understood the unspoken message. She nodded, thanked Ophelia, and headed upstairs.

Whether it was a cleaner or a security guard, she would need access to surveillance footage to find out. But as a nurse, she didn't have the authority to check the hospital security footage.

Previously, it was Harold who had helped her get permission through the department head, but she couldn't keep troubling him.

After hesitating for a moment, she decided to wait for Jeremy to come home and talk it over with him.

However, by the time it was evening, he still hadn't returned.

After a while, Felicia called her, and Melody told her about being in a relationship with Jeremy.

Felicia said, "Does this count as a non-traditional version of marriage-before-love? At least Jeremy is acting like a man about it. It's better than throwing five million at you and pretending nothing happened."

Then, after a pause, she added, "Actually, no—five million wouldn't be so bad." She muttered under her breath, "If it were me, I'd take the five million. Men are useless anyway."

Melody blinked. "I don't want five million."

"Ugh, well, since you two are official now, and you were engaged anyway, it's not a bad thing."

Felicia would never discourage Melody, but she did give her a gentle reminder. "Honestly, I think you should tell him about what happened in the past. Keeping everything to yourself isn't fair, especially when it's about your ear.

"If it weren't for you helping him and Cheryl, you wouldn't have gotten hurt."

When old memories got brought up, Melody fell silent for a long time.

After a while, she softly said, "They didn't know I was behind them. And I can't say I did it for them. If I hadn't acted, and something had happened to Cheryl, I wouldn't have been able to live with it either.

"Forget it. Let's not talk about this." Melody changed the subject, then she relayed everything that Ophelia had told her earlier and asked for Felicia's opinion.

Felicia analyzed the situation and said, "It's definitely possible. Based on my years as a journalist, a lot of shady stuff happens because of the least suspicious people.
