Melody wouldn't have been scared if she could never hear for the rest of her life. The thing was that she knew what it felt like to live in a world with sounds.
Eventually, a young boy approached her with furrowed eyebrows. Handing her a pair of hearing aids, he commanded her, "Keep them on at all times. Never take them off."
Jeremy was quite young back then. With such a youthful voice, he had to frown to make himself look more mature.
…
Melody felt completely exhausted when she woke up the next morning. Sitting on her bed, she stared off into space before she stepped to the floor.
Jeremy had freshened up and gotten ready. He glanced at her and asked, "Should I wait for you?"
Melody noticed he was already dressed for work, so she shook her head. "Go on ahead."
Then, he left without another word.
…
Melody had just arrived at the hospital when Harold stopped her. "Ms. Wardolf, a word please."
He took her to the doctor's office and continued, "Jeremy told me about the missing part of the security footage, and I think your speculation has its merits. So, I got a copy of the security footage on the other levels at the same time as well."
Whenever a power outage occurred in a hospital, it didn't happen to the entire building. Instead, the power supply was divided into several areas. That wasn't to say that searching for all security footage was an easy task, though.
She felt genuinely grateful for his efforts. "Dr. Franklin, I really appreciate it. I'm sorry if it caused you too much trouble."
Harold responded, "Actually, I'm the one who brought you trouble. If I hadn't asked you to send the material on my behalf that day, you wouldn't end up getting misunderstood. For that matter, I opened the door for you."
"She should've been a novelist. Given her twisted mindset, she'd surely attract a lot of readers and make huge profits with it. After all, everyone wants a glimpse of how a sick mind like hers works."
Melody chuckled, feeling amused when she heard what Tiffany said. Then, she gave Tiffany a heads-up. "Don't talk about these. You'll get in trouble if someone hears you."
Then, it was time for lunch. Harold asked Melody to join him as he wanted to talk to her about the security footage.
Tiffany was perceptive and moved fast. She sat next to a female doctor. So, the only empty seat was the one across from Jeremy.
Melody had no choice but to put her tray down. Before she could sit, however, he raised his gaze and said nonchalantly, "You're taking someone else's seat."
She was immediately stunned. Then, she saw Krystal coming over with a tray of food.
