A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 8

The colleague who had spoken was Tiffany Ziegler, and she was on friendly terms with Melody.

She looked at her friend and said enviously, "Melody, you've basically hit the jackpot in life. You have parents who love you, you work at a job you like, and you even have the good-looking Dr. Chesson as your fiancé."

She paused for a beat before continuing, "Dr. Chesson can be a bit aloof, but at least his good looks are very much the real deal."

Melody had been lost in her thoughts and only snapped back to her senses when she heard Tiffany say this.

Feeling the envious gazes of Tiffany and her other colleagues, Melody didn't quite know how to put her feelings into words.

It was laughable. She was like a thief, stealing things that were never meant to belong to her. Thus, when met with compliments, she couldn't help but feel self-conscious and ashamed.

Her eyelashes trembled, but just as she was about to explain, a patient suddenly arrived. Tiffany instantly spun around to take care of things.

The other nurses also went back to their work. There was no such thing as rest for nurses, especially not for those who worked at a top-ranked hospital.

Thankfully, no one brought up the news of the Wardolf family donating machines again that afternoon.

After the shift change, Melody got her things and was ready to leave when Tiffany called out to her. "Melody, wait for me. We can go together."

Melody was confused. "Go where?"

"Isn't the department having dinner together tonight?" Tiffany smacked her palm on her forehead. "Oh, right! You weren't here when the head nurse mentioned it earlier.

"Since it's Dr. Finnigan's first day, the doctors wanted a simple event to welcome her. Our side has new intern nurses as well, and we were also planning a get-together. So both sides decided we might as well do it together.

"It's a simple one. They will get food delivered to the cafeteria. There's still the night shift, after all."

Melody stood there, stuck to the spot. She hesitated.

However, before she could refuse, Tiffany dragged her to the elevators, and they happened to run into Jeremy.
