A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 93

Melody's pupils contracted slightly, and her breathing quickened.

This was the first time she had ever heard Jeremy acknowledge their relationship.

She had thought he wouldn't answer.

When she turned to look at him, all she could see was his sharp profile, his expression devoid of any emotion.

However, it was enough for her.

Lydia beamed at Jeremy's words. She reached out and took his hand before saying in a grateful voice, "Melody is a good woman, so her boyfriend must be just as good. We truly appreciate this. On behalf of all the 63 children, thank you."

As she spoke, she made a move to grovel, but Jeremy held her up. "You're most welcome. I just hope you'll check whether the food at the orphanage is safe and up to standard. It's not a small matter if six kids are down with food poisoning."

Lydia nodded repeatedly. "Of course, something this serious needs to be looked into thoroughly. Don't worry, though. We won't let you cover the cost. Consider the money for the checkups a loan from you."

Her tone was gentle, but she had a firm gaze.

Suddenly, Jeremy understood where Melody's personality came from.

By the time all 63 children had completed their checkups, it was already 10:00 pm. Aside from malnutrition, nearly every child had some form of allergy, digestive issues, or mild food poisoning.

Lydia paled, and she panicked. "Melody, this…"

Melody was also shaken by the results. However, she steadied herself and asked, "What do the children usually eat? If only those six had an issue, it could have been accidental, but every single child having similar problems…"

"We all eat the same food. It's just the most basic ingredients."

Jeremy, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly asked, "How many staff members are at the orphanage?"

He was carefully studying each test result with a grave expression.
