Melody asked, "Why? What happened?"
With a look of disdain, Tiffany replied, "It wasn't exactly a fight, though. It was just Krystal accusing Dr. Chesson of neglecting his patient, saying that he took leave despite knowing how urgent the situation was."
Melody furrowed her brow and asked, "Did Dr. Chesson disclose the reason for his absence?"
Tiffany shook her head and replied, "He didn't specify. He only said he had other important matters to attend to. You should've seen how Krystal looked back then—she was scowling the entire time, as if someone had deeply offended her."
Melody refrained from further inquiry. She promptly changed into her work uniform and headed straight to the doctor's office, where she found Jeremy sitting alone. She then knocked on the door, causing Jeremy to look up from his documents, his face devoid of expression.
She walked into the office, her expression clearly revealing her concern. She then asked tentatively, "Did your leave yesterday affect your work?"
Jeremy remained expressionless. His entire demeanor was cold and stern as he replied flatly, "No."
"I heard that Dr. Finnigan had a disagreement with you over this. What about Dr. Turner, then? Did you have an argument with him, too?" she asked worriedly, wondering if he might face repercussions regarding his work ethic due to yesterday's incident.
Jeremy, without any change in expression, replied coldly, "No."
Noticing his tense expression, Melody had an inkling of what might have happened. She clenched her fists and tentatively suggested, "If he has any misunderstandings, I can clear things up with him. I was the one who asked for your help yesterday. It had nothing to do with you, so—"
He cut her off mid-sentence, suddenly standing up from his seat after setting aside the documents he had been sorting. His height made him seem even more imposing as he glared at her, his eyes radiating coldness and suppressed irritation.
