“Mom, Michael has been really busy lately, and I’ve also been occupied with work. We haven’t had time to think about having a child.”
“Time can always be made. Once you’re pregnant, you’ll find the time.”
Wendy’s hand was warm and dry, filling Chloe with mixed
emotions.
She looked down and gently nodded, “Yes, I understand.”
Seeing her daughter’s quiet demeanor, Wendy’s eyes were full of
concern.
She pursed her lips and managed a somewhat helpless smile.
“Chloe, are you staying here with me tonight?” Chloe had spent some time reading with Wendy, and later in the evening, Wendy asked her this question.
“Mom, are you kicking me out?” Chloe said.
The hospital room was spacious, and there was a couch outside the bedroom where Chloe could sleep.

The Lotus Manor was brightly lit, and as soon as Chloe got out of the car, she realized Admas must have been waiting for her.
She walked in quickly and, as expected, found Admas sitting on the couch.
He leaned on his cane and came forward. Seeing Chloe safe and sound, he said, “You’re back? Nothing happened on the way, did it?”
Chloe shook her head. “I’m sorry, Grandpa. I shouldn’t have come back so late and made you worry. My phone died, so I couldn’t contact anyone.”
“It’s alright, as long as you’re back.”
Admas wasn’t upset with her.
