The nurse was momentarily stunned and took a while to regain her voice. "Alright, then your friend is really concerned about you."
The atmosphere was so awkward that the nurse hurriedly pushed her cart and fled the room.
Michael felt a wave of disappointment when he heard Chloe say he wasn't the baby's father. He turned to her and said, "You see, you made the nurse uncomfortable."
"Better than a wrong father."
Michael was taken aback.
Seeing the sadness in his eyes, Chloe suddenly couldn't understand him.
He had never wanted her to get pregnant before. During their three years of marriage, he always used protection and even told her he didn't want children.
Now, after the divorce, he seemed to wish the baby in her belly was his?
It was truly baffling.
After a nap, Chloe felt much better. Coincidentally, Candy and Quinn brought Jessica to visit her, and Chloe declared she was ready to be discharged.
The group happily planned to take her back to Urban Lane, leaving Michael on the sidelines.
Just before getting into the car, Chloe turned to him. "Thank you for everything yesterday. Goodbye, Mr. Shawn."
Michael returned to Lotus Manor feeling frustrated. As soon as he entered, he saw Lucy sitting on the sofa, and his expression immediately darkened.
"What are you doing here?"
Emma came out of a room, nervously wringing her hands. "Mr. Shawn, Ms. Campbell said she had spoken to you, so I let her in."
Lucy stood up, tears glistening in her eyes. "Mike, don't blame Emma. I lied to her."
Michael frowned. "Don't call me Mike anymore. I don't want Chloe to misunderstand."
Lucy trembled. He was still worried about Chloe's misunderstandings even after their divorce?
If he was so concerned, why hadn't he stopped her from calling him that all these years?
