Admas pushed the card back and said, "Chloe, I gave you this card before and never intended to take it back. There's not much money in it anyway. These past few years have been tough on you, and this little bit of money can't make up for that. Just keep it, and don't worry about what others might say. If anyone dares to gossip, I'll tear their mouths apart!"
When Admas got fierce, it was really hard for anyone to stand against him.
Chloe said, "Admas, you don't have to put money on this card anymore."
Admas immediately understood the situation. "Chloe, you need to talk to Michael about this. I can't make that decision. He has more money than he knows what to do with, and he likes to deposit it into this card. I can't stop him."
Chloe was at a loss for words. "So it's Michael who has been depositing the money," she thought.
He really did have more money than he could spend. If he wasn't transferring a thousand dollars here and there into her account, he was secretly putting money into her bank card.
Even though they had parted ways, he still kept this up.
Just as they were about to say something else, the door to the private room was opened, and Cathy and Victoria walked in.
Victoria said, "Dad, Cathy, and I came over for breakfast and heard you were here, so we thought we'd drop by to see you. I hope we're not disturbing."
Admas snorted, "You already did."
Victoria's face stiffened, but she still pulled Cathy to sit down. When they saw Chloe, they were both a bit surprised. "Chloe is here too. I didn't notice just now. Where's Michael? You're here alone?"
Before Chloe could speak, Admas said, "You're here to eat, so just eat. Stop talking." He didn't give Victoria any face at all.
With her sharp eyes, Cathy noticed the card in Chloe's hand and assumed she had come to ask her grandfather for money. "Mom, that card looks familiar. Isn't it one of those limited edition ones?"
Victoria looked over and realized it was the same card she had tried to get back from Chloe before, but Chloe had refused to return. "Chloe, I didn't want to bring this up, but that card belongs to the Shawns. Now that you're no longer a part of the family, isn't it inappropriate for you to keep holding onto it?"
Chloe chuckled, "You're right. It is inappropriate. How about I give the card to you?"
Victoria was surprised by Chloe's compliance. Last time, Chloe had adamantly refused to give it up. She thought Chloe must be behaving because Admas was present.
As Chloe handed the card over, Victoria reached out to take it, but Admas bellowed, "You dare try taking it!"
Victoria froze. "Dad, I'm not wrong. This card is meant for Michael's wife!" Why should Chloe keep it? The money on that card was easily in the tens of millions.
Admas said, "The card is mine. I'll give it to whoever I please."
With a smile, Chloe pulled the card back from Victoria's grasp. "It seems Admas doesn't want to give you the card."
Victoria was furious, her teeth grinding in frustration. Even though she knew Chloe was doing it intentionally, she was helpless.
Admas said, "Chloe, your birthday is coming up soon, isn't it? I still remember."
This past year had been eventful, and if Admas hadn't mentioned it, Chloe would have almost forgotten that her birthday was approaching.
In the previous three years, Michael had only perfunctorily given her something on her birthday, nothing special.
