Chapter 63: Attending the Banquet 

Chloe stepped out of Wendy’s hospital room and headed straight for the doctor’s office. 

“Please keep the special medicine a secret. Don’t tell anyone I got it, not even my husband.” 

Chloe was dead serious. 

The doctor quickly nodded in realization.. 

“Don’t worry. Patient confidentiality is a top priority. We won’t share this with anyone.” 

With everything settled. Chloe finally felt a sense of relief. 

She returned to the hospital room and gazed at Wendy’s peaceful sleeping face, feeling utterly content. 

Chloe had barely settled into her seat when her phone started 

ringing. 

She jumped, quickly hit mute, not wanting to disturb Wendy. 

When she saw the name displayed, she frowned. 

Chloe held her phone to her ear as she walked down the hallway. “Ms. Shawn,” she said.

“Hey, Chloe! You were the first person I thought of when I got the good news. There’s a party coming up in a few days, and I want you to come with me. I know you’re just a regular person, but being around Michael means you’ll have to attend these events. So, you better start getting used to it!” 

Chloe never expected Victoria to be so kind and help her fit into the elite party scene. 

Clearly, Victoria had an ulterior motive. 

Before Chloe could speak, she cut in, “People are always watching the Shawn family. It’s been three years, you should know better by now. It’s settled. I’ll send a car to pick you up that day.” 

Victoria pretended to care for Chloe, but her words were dripping with condescension. 

Chloe was about to say no, but she changed her mind. 

“Got it, Ms. Shawn. I’ll be there on time.” 

On the night of the party, Chloe got dressed and ready to roll. 

She picked a silver off–shoulder gown. 

The Shawn family’s car was parked downstairs. As she got in, Victoria said, “You really need to work on your time. 

management.” 

Chloe glanced at her wristwatch.

It’s only been a minute past the agreed time. Victoria’s overreacting a bit. 

Chloe smiled and nodded patiently. “Ms. Shawn’s right.”

The party was still buzzing, with the diamond chandelier casting colorful reflections across the room. 

Chloe trailed beside Victoria, watching her chat with the party 

guests. 

She never stopped smiling. 

“Victoria, who’s this? Why haven’t I seen her before?” 

Chloe knew tonight’s party was anything but ordinary. 

Victoria patted Chloe’s arm with a smile. “This is Michael’s wife. Chloe wasn’t used to these events before, so she never attended.” 

Michael’s wife?
