If he knew he was losing money, he definitely wouldn't pay for her.
Knowing she would probably get a free meal, Chloe agreed without hesitation.
Because Christopher was a celebrity, they were very cautious during the meal.
He was practically in complete disguise with his hat and mask. Even Chloe had to mask herself, making it seem like she was up to something shady.
Finally, they entered a private room, and Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. "Do you celebrities always have to eat out like this?"
Christopher thought for a moment. "Not always."
He also felt it was unnecessary to be so tense. Still, Nolan insisted, saying the less the paparazzi could photograph him, the more curious people would be about him, and the higher his exposure would be.
Chloe listened to his explanation and twitched her lips, thinking it was nonsense.
"People will just think you're pretentious."
She was being honest, and only after seeing Christopher's expression did she realize she might have been too blunt.
"I apologize for being rude to you at the anniversary celebration. It was my fault, but I was also scared by the stalker fans!"
It was the second time Chloe had heard him mention the issue of stalker fans.
She had learned before that some stalker fans could be terrifying, and some even had psychological problems.
"You really have stalker fans?"
"Which celebrity doesn't?"
Christopher's quick retort left Chloe speechless. Thinking about it carefully, it seemed like every celebrity did indeed have them.
"Tell me about it."
After spending the day with him, Chloe felt that Christopher wasn't really the kind of arrogant fool she'd initially thought. He had just taken a wrong turn at some point.
Plus, she had quite liked the drama he starred in before, so if she could help, she would.
After all, she took on jobs based on her mood.
"Can you install a camera in my house, a very hidden one? Also... something that can notify everyone with one click and also call the police."
Christopher's eyes were serious when he said this, not sounding like he was joking at all.
Chloe's eyes widened in surprise. "Your stalker fans are that scary?"
"More than scary. You know, I always feel like there's someone in my house, but I can never find them. I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown."
Chloe felt goosebumps rise on her skin as she listened.
"Have you ever considered that it might be haunted? Besides feeling like someone's been in your house, have you noticed anything else out of the ordinary?"
Christopher nodded. "Yes, I sometimes find things moved around. I'll be certain I left something in a specific place, but when I come back, it's somewhere else. And Nolan swears he hasn't touched anything."
Only he and Nolan had keys to his place.
After it happened a few times, he started to wonder if he was losing his mind.
"Back when I was in home, this feeling wasn't as strong. But ever since I came to Mamaica, it's been constant."
Chloe could tell he wasn't lying, so she said, "I'll make time to check it out for you tomorrow."
Christopher was visibly relieved that she'd finally agreed to help.
After dinner, Chloe declined Christopher's offer of a ride home in his chauffeured car.
