Chapter 7 Get them Out
After thinking it over for a while, Chloe went back to her bedroom and called Candy.

It sounded noisy on the other end. Amid the noises, Chloe heard
a faint male voice. Ignoring it, she spoke loudly, “I’ll take that job you mentioned!”
After hanging up, she immediately blocked Michael’s number, tossed her phone aside, and took a shower.
Later at night, Chloe opened the fridge and was hit by a mix of unpleasant smells that made her gag. She barely managed to close the door before she was retching.
Candy handed her a glass of water.
“Thanks.”
She had barely taken a sip when Candy’s voice cut through the
room.
“Chloe, are you pregnant?”
Chloe spit out the water in shock, turning to Candy with a horrified look, her mind racing.

Michael and her hardly ever made love. But when they did, he was always very passionate and wild.
Over two weeks ago, on the night he got back from his business trip, he was so crazy in bed that the condom broke. And Chloe totally forgot to take the morning–after pill.
As she snapped out of it, Chloe quickly did the math and realized she should’ve had a period three days ago.
Her face went pale. She couldn’t believe she might get pregnant at this critical moment.
While Chloe was still in a daze, Candy had already put on her shoes and was heading for the door.
“Wait here. I’ll get a pregnancy test kit.”
Just as she was about to leave, she paused, kicked off her shoes, and ran barefoot to her bedroom. Then she returned with a pregnancy test kit.
“Here, use this.”
Chloe was stunned. “Why do you have it in your room?”
Blushing, Candy glared at her.
“What? Can’t a girl have a bit of fun?”
Three minutes later, Chloe saw the single line on the test strip
and let out a long sigh of relief, though a bit disappointed.

She couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like if she and Michael had a child.

Shaking off the thought, she tossed the kit into the trash can and wore a mask, blaming it on the foul of Candy’s fridge.

The good thing about being back on the hacking team was that Chloe had more free time for herself.
After a satisfying meal and a good night’s sleep, she woke up early the next day and got straight to work on her programming.
Midway through, she realized why Candy failed the task twice.
After getting changed, she knocked on Candy’s bedroom door.
“Go to Bano Group with me. Do you know why the firewall isn’t working? There’s a blockade in the network. No matter how many times you redo it, it won’t work.”
“A blockade?” Candy squinted. “Did Michael plant it?”
Chloe paused, withdrawing her hand.
Michael had always kept her out of his family matters, so she knew little about them.
She’d only met Ben Shawn twice at annual parties of the company.

“Don’t ask about the client’s secrets. That’s the basic rule of taking orders. Let’s go. I need access to Bano Group’s internal network to fix this.”
Without further ado, Candy handed Chloe a quirky panda mask and sunglasses. “Wear it. It’ll make you look cooler.”
“You’re just dropping me off. You don’t need to get out of the
car.”
With that, Chloe tossed the mask back and put on the sunglasses, covering most of her face.
On the way, Candy contacted the department head who had placed the order.
By the time they arrived at Bano Group, that person was already waiting in the lobby.
Today, Chloe was decked out in a yellow dress, looking very
gorgeous.
At the sight of her, that person was utterly shocked.
He asked, “Are you the hacker, Jioleek?”
Chloe nodded, smiling coolly.
“Lead the way.”
They quickly reached the tech department. A group of tech

geeks in plaid shirts and thick glasses stared at Chloe, wide–eyed.
When they found out she was the legendary hacker from the dark web, they couldn’t believe it.
“I thought Jioleek was a bald dude! Didn’t expect her to be gorgeous. I think I’m in love.”
“In love? She’s way out of your league, dude!”

“I heard Jioleek retired three years ago. Didn’t expect her to make a comeback. Mr. Ben Shawn must have some serious pull.”
In the meeting room for executives of Paramount Airlines, Stella nervously delivered Chloe’s message to Michael and handed over her resignation letter.
Sitting at the table, Michael snapped the pen in his hand with a loud crack. He couldn’t believe that Chloe didn’t do as he said.
The room fell silent, and the tension was palpable.
Everyone else was too scared to speak, not wanting to get
themselves in trouble.
Michael’s ruthlessness was well–known in the company.
Today’s meeting was held by him, and Chloe had the guts to skip it with a ridiculous excuse.
So, the people present couldn’t help but wonder if she unhappy with Lucy.
With a smile, Lucy looked at Michael and said, “Michael, let’s get down to business and continue the meeting.‘
Right after that, everyone knew there was some juicy gossip among Chloe, Lucy, and Michael.·
In their eyes, it was a classic love triangle thing.
Michael got mad at Chloe because of Lucy, and Chloe skipped the meeting out of jealousy.
After the meeting was over, the entire company was buzzing with rumors.
Word was that Chloe had been secretly in love with Michael for
years.
Unaware of these rumors, Michael returned to his office and dialed Chloe’s number again, only to find he’d been blocked.
Frustration and coldness were written all over his face.
Just then, his secretary walked in with a package.
“Sir, this…”
It was the set of luxury jewelry Michael had ordered for someone yesterday. But he didn’t take it with him, so his

secretary assumed it was meant for Lucy.
At the sight of the jewelry, Michael got more annoyed.
“Get rid of it!”
With that, he stormed out, slamming the door shut.
He was about to send someone to find Chloe when his phone
rang.
Glancing at the caller ID, he answered it impatiently.
“What is it?”
