Chapter 8 His Terms 

Asher awkwardly rubbed his nose and gestured for the club manager to come over.

As the noise died down, Chloe leaned against the side of the stage and tried to catch her breath. Her chest was heaving after the crazy dance, looking incredibly alluring. 

She then casually brushed her long hair back. When her eyes met with Michael, who was standing below the stage, she froze immediately. 

Although Chloe appeared calm, her heart was beating frantically. 

After all, she still had some feelings left for him after loving him for so long. 

“Get down there,” Michael ordered, looking very angry. 

“Why should I?” Chloe turned him straight down with a poker 

face. 

Michael felt his head throb even more at her words, and he smirked menacingly. “This club is mine. You think you can just leave as you want?” 

Apparently, he wasn’t gonna let her go.

Chloe then took a deep breath. She’d be lying if she said she had zero feelings left for Michael. But since she had already decided to leave him, there was nothing she should be afraid of. 

A while later, she finally managed to calm down. 

Chloe didn’t know where her shoes had ended up. So, she walked barefoot to the edge of the stage and leaned forward slightly. 

She mocked, “Mr. Shawn, are you making such a big fuss just to drag me away for a divorce now, or are you planning to take me home to make babies?” 

Asher, who had been secretly watching the drama from a short distance away, couldn’t help but snicker. “Ha!” 

Chloe struck him as a tender and submissive housewife before. 

So, he was quite surprised that she turned out to be so feisty. 

When Michael death–stared him, he felt a chill down his spine. Then he quietly shuffled a few steps back. But his curiosity got the better of him, and he perked up his ears to eavesdrop again. 

Michael paid him no mind and turned to look at Chloe again, who stirred his emotions intensely. 

He then spoke irritably with a deep voice, “You’re still my wife and a member of the Shawn family until our divorce is finalized. Cut it out. You can’t afford to tarnish the Shawn family’s 

reputation.”

Sneering, Chloe retorted, “Oh, really? Besides you and your family, who on earth knows that I’m your wife, Michael? Why bother clearing the place? No one would recognize me anyway.” 

With that, she jumped off the stage and began walking barefoot on the cold floor toward Michael, who looked like he wanted to 

kill her. 

Chloe’s expression had lost its usual softness and intimacy. It was replaced with a cold, determined look. 

She stated, “So, you don’t want me to embarrass the Shawn family, huh? Then sign the divorce papers already! From now on, we’ll have nothing to do with each other.” 

“Chloe!” 

Michael snapped and grabbed her waist angrily. 

Somehow, the soft touch stirred the desire in him, and he couldn’t tone it down. 

The air was filled with the scent of all kinds of liquor, but he recognized the tempting scent of her. And Michael’s heart. skipped a beat. 

Chloe, however, shoved Michael aside without hesitation. “Why? Can’t bear to let me go?” 

She lowered her head and sneered, “What a shame. You’ve slept. with me for three years but you’re still terrible in bed. Even if you can’t move on. I’ve had enough.”

Chloe looked up at Michael again, and the redness in her eyes. made her look even more determined. 

“I’ll give you three days. If you don’t sign the papers, I’ll file 

for divorce. When that happens, you should clean up the mess yourself, Mr. Shawn.” 

With that, she turned and left. 

Sensing Michael’s piercing gaze, she clenched her fists tightly and kept walking away steadily. 

When she approached Asher, she turned to him and asked, “Enjoy the show, Mr. Cooper? How about I share some details of the wild nights I spent with Michael?” 

His jaw dropped at her words, and he stared at Chloe in disbelief. Asher wondered since when she had become so bold. 

It wasn’t until Chloe walked out of the club that he swallowed 

hard. 

He then patted his chest and jogged over to Michael. 

“Is this really the gentle and virtuous wife you always talked about?!” 

“Who else could it be?” Michael rolled his eyes and irritably tugged at his tie. 

Asher instantly shut his mouth.

Michael looked out at the pitch–black sky outside and then turned his gaze, asking, “Did Jioleek accept our order?”

Asher immediately got serious and responded, “No. Jioleek has been out of the picture for three years and suddenly makes at comeback.” 

“She even removed the blockade you had in Bano Group. Is it because of the patent Lucy got us?” 

Michael’s face turned grim. 

He uttered, “Ben isn’t that capable! Get someone to restore the wiped surveillance of Bano Group ASAP and find out who Jioleek really is!” 

After saying this, he didn’t feel like drinking anymore and turned to leave. 

Since the SUV keys were with Candy, Chloe thought she was in the car. She tried to open the door but couldn’t, so she called Candy. 

“Candy, you’d better come up with a good excuse for leaving me behind…” 

Before she could finish speaking, an unfamiliar and raspy male voice interjected, “She’s not coming back tonight.”

“Who are you?” Chloe instantly got anxious.

She was about to think of a way to track them when she heard Candy’s moan. 

“Damn it. Take it easy… Hmm…” 

The call was then abruptly ended, and Chloe’s face flushed with embarrassment when she realized Candy was making out with a 

man. 

Chloe then hailed a taxi by the roadside, and just as she got in, she received a call from Admas Shawn, Michael’s grandpa. 

He asked tenderly, “Are you asleep, Chloe?” 

Hearing that, Chloe didn’t have the heart to be harsh on him. 

After all, back when she was at her lowest, it was Admas who had pulled her out of despair. And for that, she would be eternally grateful. 

“Not yet. What’s the matter, Admas?” 

Admas said, “Well, I made an appointment with a top–notch doctor for you. It took me a long time to get the appointment. I got some medicine for you and will bring it over now. With proper treatment, you’ll surely get pregnant.” 

At his words, Chloe was at a loss for words. 

Michael had never allowed her to have kids with him, but she
