Chapter 75: Rejection
“You’ve been arguing with me just to get half my fortune.”
Michael always thought Chloe was greedy.
Chloe had explained countless times before. Since he didn’t believe her, she saw no point in continuing.
“Think whatever you want. If you want me to stay, you have to agree to these terms!”
The tension in the air was palpable.
After what felt like ages, Michael finally spoke again.
“Money and the mansion are yours, but the last condition is a
no–go.”
Chloe was stunned. She thought the last one was what he and Lucy wanted.
Michael sized her up and let out a cold snort.
“Until we’re divorced, you don’t get a private life. Or are you planning to flirt with other men while still being Mrs. Shawn?”
His words ignited Chloe’s fury.
“Mr. Shawn, you’re such a scoundrel.”

“Chloe, what do you mean?” Michael snapped, anger flaring in
his eyes.
“Mr. Shawn, don’t you get what I mean? Go ask the employees at Paramount Airlines who your wife really is! I’ve stayed out of your life, so I expect you to stay out of mine.”
This marriage was over long ago. She loved him for three years, but in the end, her fate was nothing but tragic.
Before the divorce, Chloe couldn’t stop Michael from cheating, so there’s no way she can stop him from being with Lucy now. Chloe doesn’t want to bother with these things that stress her out anymore.
Chloe decided to head upstairs.
But just as she took a step forward, a pair of strong hands yanked her back.
“Chloe, you leave me no choice!”
Chloe spun around. Cool lips met hers.
She stared at Michael in shock.
Michael kissed her.
Michael’s kiss wasn’t tender; it was more like he was devouring
her lips, venting his frustration.

After a long while, Michael gradually softened. It seemed he had finally let go of his frustration.
Chloe thought she must be mistaken. But when she looked up again, she saw the smoldering desire in his eyes.
She was shocked, thinking, “Since when does he get excited when facing me?”
In the past three years, even during our most intimate moments, he rarely ever lost control..
During our divorce talks, he often got excited.
Michael scooped Chloe into his arms and headed upstairs to the bedroom.
Chloe gasped and instinctively wrapped her arms around his
neck.
They didn’t notice the flash of white light outside the first–floor window. It vanished into the darkness just as quickly.
Michael carried Chloe upstairs, gently laying her on the bed. The soft mattress sank under their weight as he leaned over her.
The window’s open.
The cold wind blew in from outside, snapping Chloe awake.
