The next morning, Chloe woke up and stretched. 

She ended up touching something warm and soft. 

She jolted awake, eyes wide with fear. Michael sat beside her, fully dressed, his gaze locked onto hers. 

“Is this your new way of trying to seduce me? Playing hard to get?”

Her cheeks flushed instantly as she wrapped herself in the blanket. 

Chloe replied coldly, “Yeah, everything you said is spot on!” 

Chloe started to sit up, ready to slip on her shoes, but Michael pulled her back down onto the bed. 

He looked down at her. “You planning to leave?” 

They were so close, Chloe’s eyelashes brushed against Michael’s check.

She shoved him away, shock written all over her face. With a swift move, she slipped out of his grasp. 

“I told you, I have my period. Mr. Shawn, chill out!” 

Chloe bolted into the bathroom, slamming the door and locking it behind her. She didn’t even remember to grab her slippers. 

She thought Michael was getting weirder and weirder. 

Chloe wondered, “Is Michael acting like this because it’s mating season in spring?” 

Chloe lingered in the bathroom for what felt like ages. When she finally stepped out, Michael was gone. 

She felt a wave of relief and sank onto the bed. 

Michael left the master bedroom, feeling frustrated. 

He used to control his desires, but lately, they’ve been spiraling out of control. 

He never actually thought about divorcing Chloe. 

He just wanted Chloe to stop arguing with him.
