“Who else but your friend would have our intimate photos? And who else would call Lucy a mistress?” 

Michael clearly didn’t buy that this had nothing to do with Candy and Chloe.

“Did you see that photo? Did you see the number of the who sent her those threatening texts? You don’t know anything, yet you lash out at me. I’m not your punching bag.” 

Chloe shot Michael a chillingly cold stare. 

“Candy’s my friend. If you don’t like her, fine. But don’t judge or insult her.” 

Candy hadn’t dated in years, but recently, she started getting back into the game. 

But Michael said her personal life was a mess. 

Michael frowned. All he wanted was for Chloe to admit she was wrong, but he didn’t expect her to fight back. 

“No time for chit–chat. I need to check on Lucy; that threat message freaked her out.” 

Chloe thought, “Michael is such a fool! Lucy is so sneaky. He’s totally blind to her true nature.”

When my father passed away, Lucy had the nerve to lean over his coffin and call him “Dad.” 

Lucy freaking out over a single threat text? 

“This is insane!” 

Michael turned to leave, but Chloe followed. “I’m coming with 

you.” 

She locked eyes with him. “You’re accusing me, so let’s go confront her together. Watch closely and see if it’s really me.” 

Seeing her point, Michael and Chloe decided to visit Lucy together. 

When the car pulled up to Lucy’s place, he turned to Chloe and said, “Just be careful not to say anything that might upset her.” 

Chloe hopped out of the car. 

Chloe stepped inside and found the house shrouded in darkness. Only a dim floor lamp in the living room cast a soft, eerie glow. 

“Lucy?” 

Michael shouted Lucy’s name. A figure immediately dashed over 

from the couch.. 

Lucy’s clothes were disheveled, her hair a wild mess. Her face was pale, but her lips were a striking red.
