She dropped the shrimp. Then, she scooped two generous spoonfuls of chili into the plate, added a full spoonful of Sichuan peppercorns, and poured in more vinegar than usual.
As she placed two plates of pasta on the table, Michael instinctively took a seat beside her.
He frowned at the sight of the thick layer of chili oil floating in the dish.
“Why is this so spicy?”
Chloe was happily munching away, sneaking a quick glance at him.
“I’ve already made it for you, so stop complaining. If you don’t want it, cook for yourself.”
Michael picked up his fork and gave the pasta a stir.
Chloe watched from the side, raising an eyebrow. With the amount of chili she had added, there was no way he could
handle it.
To her surprise, Michael only hesitated for a split second before digging in.

He gulped down most of his water, then noticed Chloe wast happily munching away, not even breaking a sweat.

Sometimes he would come back, but her cooking was always light and simple.
None of her dishes had any chili.
He thought she was like him, couldn’t handle spicy food.
Michael remembered every time the servants asked her what she wanted to eat, she always chose his favorite dishes. It left him feeling a bit conflicted.
