Chapter 83: Off to Work! 

While cooking pasta, Chloe instinctively grabbed a box of shrimp nearby. 

But as she twisted the lid open, she froze.

Michael spent years working away from home. He started at Shawn Heavy Industries, then moved on to Paramount Airlines. 

When he got busy, he often skipped lunch. He might not have been the best husband, but he was a great leader.

Chloe was with him when the doctor advised cutting down on oily and spicy foods, suggesting a lighter diet. 

She logged all his food allergies in her phone’s notes. After three years, she knew them by heart. 

She remembered Michael’s food preferences, but he didn’t remember hers. 

Since childhood, she’s had a passion for spicy food, the hotter and more numbing, the better.

Ever since she got together with him, she changed her own. habits just to match his tastes. 

Looking back, she realized it had been ages since she last had. spicy food.

She dropped the shrimp. Then, she scooped two generous spoonfuls of chili into the plate, added a full spoonful of Sichuan peppercorns, and poured in more vinegar than usual. 

As she placed two plates of pasta on the table, Michael instinctively took a seat beside her. 

He frowned at the sight of the thick layer of chili oil floating in the dish. 

“Why is this so spicy?” 

Chloe was happily munching away, sneaking a quick glance at him. 

“I’ve already made it for you, so stop complaining. If you don’t want it, cook for yourself.” 

Michael picked up his fork and gave the pasta a stir. 

Chloe watched from the side, raising an eyebrow. With the amount of chili she had added, there was no way he could 

handle it. 

To her surprise, Michael only hesitated for a split second before digging in.

None of her dishes had any chili. 

He thought she was like him, couldn’t handle spicy food. 

Michael remembered every time the servants asked her what she wanted to eat, she always chose his favorite dishes. It left him feeling a bit conflicted.
