Michael froze. “Why’d she throw your phone?”
“I recorded it, and she doesn’t want you to hear it.”
Michael let out a long sigh.
“I’ll look into the texts on Lucy’s phone. Stop bothering her.”
Chloe let out a chuckle, her face dripping with sarcasm.
“Figures. I knew you wouldn’t believe me, no matter what I said.”
Lucy just made one call. She didn’t even have proof, yet he immediately rushed over to confront Chloe.
Chloe spelled it out clearly, but he didn’t buy it for a second.
Chloe’s heart sank into a sea of sorrow.
She’s been through this so many times, but she just won’t give
Michael felt a sudden, sharp pang in his heart, like it had been jabbed with a needle.
He just didn’t want things to get worse, but it seemed like he’d .never really understood Chloe’s feelings.

Chloe fell silent for a few seconds, taken aback. Why didn’t he accuse her of making a scene on purpose?
But deep down, she knew this was the fair treatment she deserved.
Chloe barely spoke to Michael for the rest of the day.
He didn’t go to work, and she didn’t ask why. She just acted like he wasn’t home.
During dinner, Michael was about to say something, but she put down her fork abruptly and said she was full. Then, she headed straight to the guest room.
After Michael finished his shower, he looked at the master bedroom without Chloe. The bed was perfectly made, not a single wrinkle. His mood took a dive.
He hadn’t slept with Chloe that many times.

The next day, Chloe woke up, stayed on the ship, and fired up her laptop.

She couldn’t stay at Candy’s place, so she had to be super careful taking gigs at Lotus Manor. It was giving her a headache.
Chloe jumped when the bedroom door creaked open from the outside. In a split second, she switched her computer screen and closed her document.
Michael strolled in and casually said, “Dinner’s ready. Come down.”
He actually skipped work today?
It’s almost 10 o’clock already.
She shut her laptop, slipped on her shoes, and headed downstairs. Breakfast was a sandwich and milk, but she wasn’t feeling it. So, she decided to whip up some pasta instead.
“Mrs. Shawn, what would you like to eat? I’ll whip it up for you.”
“Thanks, but I’ll whip up something myself.”
