I refused them without hesitation.
“No, thank you. I have my parents and family here in Royal City. As for Forest Moon Pack... I’m tired of it,” I said firmly.
Oscar let out a laugh, but his expression quickly darkened.
“Sophie, you’ll regret this. You’ll come back to us!”
“There’s no need. I won’t give you the chance,” I replied coldly.
At a subtle signal from Ryan, the gamma swiftly gagged Oscar and Axel, tied their hands and feet, and tossed them into a helicopter.
Ryan noticed that I had just witnessed his ruthless side and seemed uneasy.
“Sophie, are you afraid of me?” he asked, his voice softer now.
As an Alpha King, he has earned his current situation and position not through kindness, but through decisive, stern action. Yet, he didn’t want to frighten me with this side of himself.
I looked at him intently. For a moment, the space between us seemed to shrink. Smiling faintly, I shook my head.
“Why would I be? I think you handled it perfectly.”
Still, one question lingered in my mind: why had they come looking for me?
Why now?
Oscar and Axel were likely wondering the same thing.
They felt defeated, unable to accomplish anything during their trip.
How could Sophie already be married?
They remembered how shy and flustered she had been when they tried to confess their feelings to her.
Why hadn’t they noticed the turmoil in her heart?
At the time, Sophie had been conflicted. She didn’t want to hurt either of them.
Choosing one meant devastating the other.
Her hesitation kept her from making a choice. Sometimes, she even wished they could remain friends forever.
After all, her feelings for both hadn’t yet blossomed into true love.
Oscar and Axel had understood this, too.
They decided not to push her, to preserve what they already had.
Then Nina appeared.
Oscar and Axel had used Nina as a distraction, hoping to spark Sophie’s jealousy and force her to confront her feelings.
But now, as the helicopter lifted off, the gamma shoved them out without mercy.
The rumble of the aircraft above startled Nina, who rushed upstairs to see what was happening.
As usual, she burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably as tears streamed down her face.
“I... I didn’t! Sophie’s mother in Royal City told me herself. That’s how I knew! She’s not in Forest Moon Pack, so I assumed she was in Royal City. Why? Isn’t she there?”
But this time, her tears failed to soften their hearts.
Axel and Oscar weren’t fools.
They had willingly believed her lies before, using her to provoke Sophie’s jealousy.
Believing Nina’s stories had been a convenient way to keep up the charade.
But now, everything was different.
Oscar tightened his grip on her wrist, leaving red marks on her skin.
“Are you still refusing to tell the truth?” he roared before glancing at Axel. “Looks like she needs a lesson to make her talk.”
Axel’s expression was colder than ever, devoid of any emotion.
He tapped his fingers lightly on the table, his tone icier than the air in the room.
“Do you want to keep your job? If you don’t want to lose everything and go back to that little village, you’d better start talking.”
To Nina, his words were nothing short of a death sentences..
