After making sure Claire was a little calmer, Simone said, “Just wait for me. I’m coming right now” She hung up, threw a thin jacket over her pajamas, and nished out the door. Her heart was pounding the whole way.

Luckily, the downtown park wasn’t far from Serenity Estates. Simone got there in no time. She hopped out of the car and hurried around the park until she finally spotted Claire. Seeing Claire was safe, Simone finally let out a long sigh of relic

Claire looked up and saw Simone standing there in her pajamas and slippers, clearly having rushed over. Seeing Simone so disheveled, Claire’s eyes kuddenly filled with tears.

Claire had only called because she wanted to talk, never expecting Simone would come out so late. “Simone, I’m so sorry for making you come out at this hour.” Claire said, guilt written all over her face.

“Don’t apologize. We’re friends, aren’t we? Simone replied, though her usual cabin was tinged with a rare hint of panic.

Claire had hardly ever seen Simone like this. Realizing Simone’s fluster was all because Simone was worried about her, Claire felt a warmth bloom in her chest. She couldn’t help but feel a little happy.

By now, everyone at Serenity Estates had already turned in for the night. Simone quietly led Claire up to her room.

“Come on in,” Simone called, urging Claire.

Even her private bathroom was bigger than the entire space Claire’s family shared back home.

“It’s nothing special, really,” Simone said.

When she first came back to Serenity Estates, Simone had been staying in a guest room. Later, Cyrus insisted on giving her his bedroom and had it completely redone just for her.

After Claire finished getting ready, the two of them lay down together on the bed.

After goofing around for a bit. Claire started to feel better and told Simone everything that had happened at home.
