Simone’s words were like a knife, stabbing straight

straight into Samuel and Jonas’s hearts.

Simone took in their sorry state, grinning without a care in the world. “Alright, seeing you two like this puts my mind at ease. I’ll get a good night’s sleep” With that, she stood up and walked out without so much as a backward glance.

Once she stepped out of the hospital. Simone breathed in the fresh air, feeling unexpectedly light. In her previous life, Samuel and Ethan had taken one of her kidney for Stell. This time around, she was going to make them pay it all back.

Over the years, Nolan had quietly built up a lot of resources. Back when he was overseas, he founded a well–known tech company called Apex Systems, which was just as big as Irwin Group. Not long ago, Apex Systems even moved its headquarters to Sogin.

Lately. Apex Systems had been making life miserable for Irwin Group–sabotaging projects, stealing clients, and causing one setback after another. Irwin Group was taking hit after hit.

These days. Simone barely saw Cyrus at home. Even when he did show up, he looked exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes.

Simone had no idea how much her presence meant to him. She looked at Cyrus and said quietly. “I was waiting for you.” There was a hint of complaint in her eyes as she added, “You haven’t come home for dinner on time in ages”

Cyrus paused for a second, but his heart felt warm. He smiled and teased, “Does that mean you missed me?”

“I did not.” Simone shot back, refusing to admit it

Cyrus didn’t mind her stubbornness. He just looked at Simone, feeling incredibly happy in that moment,

Now that they were sitting so close, Simone fuually noticed how pale and worn out Cyrus looked. For some reason, seeing him like this made her heart ache, and she instantly regretted what she’d just said.

Worried she might have hurt his feelings, she mumliled awkwardly, “It’s just… when you’re not here, even dinner doesn’t tiste right”

Cynis reached out and gently rattled her hair, his eyes full of affection. “Alright, I’ll try to come home earlier so we can have dinner together.” After all these years, he knew Simone’s temperament inside out he was just a stubborn lide girl at heart.

They chatted for a while longer Simone asked, “Do you have a grudge against Nolan?” Even though the two of them had argued fiercely in the hospital because ofher, Simone didn’t think she was the reason things had gotten so heated between them

Cyrus looked at Simone, momentarily taken aback. “What made you ask about this?”

Simone didn’t say much. “I. I just wanted to know.”

Cyrus knew Simone was sharper and more insightful than most kids her age, so when he talked to her, he always treated her as an equal. That was why he never planned to hide anything from her.
