Chapter 124
The next day, Nolan handed the USB drive over to the police. With solid evidence in hand, Cordell and Leonard were immediately brought in and both ended up convicted.
After everything was cleared up. Nolan’s Apex Systems completely stopped putting any pressure on Irwin Group.
Summer break fled by. A week later, Sogin High School was back in sessions, and that morning, Cyrus personally drove Simone to school.
As soon as she got out of the car, Simone spotted Stella and Rayamond stepping out of a Rolls–Royer. The Spence family was supposed to be bankrupt. Simone let out a mocking laugh. She was about to leave when she suddenly noticed a man.
The man looked at Stella with a gentle, doting smile, “Stella, I’ll pick you up
up this alternoon,” he said.
Stella beamed and linked arms with Raymond as they headed through the school gates.
“When did he get back? Simone stared at the man’s familiar profile, her eyes darkening.
Stella showed up to class looking absolutely stunning, dressed head to toe in designer brands. She took her usual seat, expecting the other students to Bock around her like always.
Normally, just sitting down was enough for everyone to rush over, eager to on her good side and make her laugh. But today, she’d been sitting there for over ten minutes, and not a single person even looked her way.
There was still plenty of time before class started. The rest of the students were chatting and laughing in their own groups, leaving Stella sitting all by herself, completely ignored.
Stella pressed her lips together, stood up, and walked over to the girls she used to be close with. Smiling, she pointed at the seat in front of her “Carol, mind if I sit here?”
Before Carol could answer, another girl plopped herself right down in the spot Stella had pointed to. She shot Stella a mocking look and said bluntly. “Oops, sorry, I want this seat,”
Even though she said sorry, there wasn’t a hint of apology on her face–just pure sarcasm. She looked Stella up and down, grinning wickedly. “Heard you rolled up in a Rolls–Royce today, Ms. Spence. Did some sugar daddy buy it for you?”
The whole group burst out laughing, all eyes turning to Stella.
Carol covered her mouth, giggling. “Ms. Spence? Please. The Spence residence is bankrupt.

went on. “Look at all those designer clothes and shoes she’s wearing. That’s gotta be several million dollars right there. Her family’s broke–no way she can afford that. Bet some old guy bought it all for her.”

As their words got nastier, Stella’s face grew paler and paler. She clenched her lists, barely holding back her anger, and shouted, “What are you even talking about
“We’re just telling it like it is Carol said, rolling her eyes. “You never rode in a Rolls–Royce before your family went broke, but now you’re suddenly showing off
“And those clothes and hair accessories you’re wearing are the latest releases from the designer stores. No way you can still afford that stuff after your family loses everything
Stella’s face went ghostly white. She’d only dressed up today so people wouldn’t look down on hier–she never thought it would backfire like this.. Looking at them, tears welled up in her eyes. “Wereift we friends? Don’t you even want to believe me?”
Playing the victim was her favorite trick—and it always worked. Stella gave the girls her most pitiful look, hoping to win over the rest of the class with her act.
Back in the day, people would have rushed over to comfort her by now. But even though she thought her performance was better than ever, not a single person spoke up for her. Stella runed them all a hundred times over in her heart.
Someone scoffed in disgust. “Ugh, that’s so gross.” Seeing Stella put on her seary, half–dead act again, the girls just looked at her with pure contempt.
