Chapter 63
Claire hadn’t thought much of it at first, but after she heard Simone’s next sentence, she fixed her gaze on the lead dancer on stage.
She said in a serious tone, “Simone, has she been giving you trouble at home?”
Claire could almost picture Simone being brought back to the Irwin family by Cyrus, quietly enduring mistreatment without daring to speak up.
Simone paused for a moment, then smiled, realizing Claire was worried about her. “Relax, she’s no match for me.”
She had never cared about Winona, and now that Winona had been kicked out of the Irwin family, even if she still had any bad intentions toward her, there was little she could do.
She didn’t think Winona could come up with any more ways to deal with her. Even if she did, she had plenty of ways to fight back.
The opening ceremony wrapped up in about half an hour, and then it was time for the athletes to head to their events.
Simone had only signed up for the 2–mile race, which wasn’t even scheduled until the last day
Claire, on the other hand, had signed up for nearly every event she was good at
Simone spent the entire morning following Claire, cheering her on until her voice was completely hoarse. By the time she could barely hold on any longer, Claire’s events still weren’t over.
“Claire, seriously, how many events did you sign up for?” Simone asked, feeling exhausted.
It was the first time she had ever seen someone go this hard at a sports meet.
Claire had just finished her last event of the morning and came back to find Simone giving her a
a pitiful look.
Claire rubbed her head and burst into laughter. “Simone, I’ve never seen you look so done with life. You’re so funny”
Claire couldn’t help but find Simone’s expression both funny and kind of adorable. She wished she had a camera to capture Simone’s cute look.
“Simone, thank you so much. I’ll treat you to lunch, okay? Claire felt a bit guilty, remembering how Simone had spent the whole morning cheering for her.
Simone blinked, thought for a moment, and said, “Okay, let’s go eat at that spaghetti restaurant next to the stadium. I want the extra–large one.”
“No problem” Claire agreed with a grin
Claire had already mentally prepared to spend a fortune, but when she saw the prices on the menu, she froze, almost on the verge of tears.
She held back the lump in her throat and ordered two extra–large beef spaghetti.
The place was a new opening and had a promotion–two extra–large beef spaghetti for just 30 dollars, about the same as what Claire usually spent
or a meal.
Claire wasn’t stupid. She knew Simone didn’t want her to spend too much money.
Since it was new, the restaurant was packed with people. Simone searched for a while before finally spotting a six–person table. Four people were already seated, leaving the two outermost seats facing the aisle vacant.
Excuse me, may I ask—“Simone was about to ask if the seat was taken when she suddenly spotted a familiar face.
Quinn had noticed Simone the moment she entered, and he was surprised
After all, Winona would never set foot in a place like this. She believed slurping spaghetti was far too uncouth and unbecoming of her image as a rich girl.
Simone stared directly at Quinn for a long time before finally greeting him. “Hi, Quinn”
Quinn remained expressionless, but the boy seated beside him glanced at Simone, looking surprised.
Simone had no idea that this boy was the one from Sogin Vocational High School who had been talking about her earlier this morning.
Seeing Quinn remain silent, Finn Mitchell assumed Simone was trying to flirt. With practiced case, he stepped in to reject her. “Sorry, but Quinn doesn’t add girls on WhatsApp-

“But hey. I can give you mine. Finn stared at Simone like a wolf eyeing in prey..
The two of them were very close, and Finn could feel how beautiful Simone was. He couldn’t help but think to himself, “Well, what is Quinn thinking? Why would he turn down such a pretty girl”
“I didn’t mean “Simone hesitated, about to explain. However, before the could finish, Quinn glared at Finn and cut her off. “Shut up. She’s my younger sister”
With that, Quinn quickly signaled to the others at the table, and someone immediately moved to give up the sear next to him

“This is my elder brother, and those are his friends,” Simone whispered into Claire’s ear
Claire nodded, starting to piece things together.
Simone turned to the group with a polite smile, “Hi, I’m Quinn’s sister, and this is my friend, Claire.”
