Chapter 0203

When Sandy heard it was a technical question, she didn’t hold back. After quickly grasping Miranda’s experimental steps, she promptly offered some adjustment suggestions.
When Elizabeth arrived and saw how focused Miranda was, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She was just an undergrad–what could she possibly know? It all seemed like a show to her.
Miranda worked through the entire morning. Only then did she realize that everyone else had already left their workstations, probably for lunch and a break.
She glanced at the time. It seemed she had an hour and a half for lunch. She decided to go outside, grab a quick bite, and then return to continue her experiments.
However, just as she stepped out, she saw Paul approaching with a takeout bag.
“I went downstairs to grab lunch and got you something too,” he said.
Miranda noticed he only had one portion. She guessed he had already eaten.
“Thank you,” she replied.
She ate in the break room and made herself another cup of coffee to stay alert. Recalling Sandy’s earlier suggestions, she adjusted the ratios of her reactive materials, but the results still didn’t quite meet her expectations.
For the purposes of her paper, the current data were sufficient to support her conclusions, but Miranda felt there was room for greater precision.
However, redoing the experiment would be necessary to achieve that.
She was incredibly grateful to Paul for letting her use his lab. With such resources at her disposal, she wasn’t afraid of repeating the process as many times as needed.
Thinking of this, Miranda finished her coffee in a few gulps and headed back to her workstation.
As she stepped back in, she noticed Silas, Bryan, Sandy, and Elizabeth gathered together, seemingly deep in discussion. She was about to greet them, but as she approached, they all scattered and quickly returned to their own stations.
Miranda paused for a moment but didn’t take it to heart, instead refocusing on her experiment. After all, different circles didn’t need forced inclusion. Not everyone shared the same thoughts or values.
Like the hunter and the woodcutter–one sought game, the other sought firewood; their goals differed, so they couldn’t travel the same path.
However, if they happened to meet and coexist peacefully, they could journey together for a while. And if they eventually parted ways, it wouldn’t be a loss, as each had their own destination.
Everything would be fine as long as she let things take their natural course.
Restarting the experiment from scratch left Miranda with very little time. She was responsible not only for the basic sampling but also for data analysis and statistics.
It could be said she was essentially handling the workload of an entire research team by herself. After all,

she was a one–woman army.
When she was busy, she spent at least 16 out of 24 hours in the lab each day.
Days went by. Sandy and Silas would occasionally drop by to chat with her.
Bryan, however, was often talking to Elizabeth whenever he had a moment. So, he didn’t have much opportunity to interact with Miranda.
As for Elizabeth, ever since the awkward dinner incident, she hadn’t made any effort to speak with Miranda.
