“Lizzy?” Bryan called out once more. 

“What’s the matter?” 

“You were just talking to a real estate agent, right? Are you looking for a place to rent?” 

Elizabeth panicked. She snapped angrily to avoid more questions from Bryan, “Why do you ask so many questions? What does it have to do with you?” 

Bryan felt a bit hurt, but he didn’t show it. “I’m your boyfriend. Of course I care about you.” 

“I wanted a boyfriend, not a father.” 

“If you think I’m too naggy… shall I talk less in the future?” Bryan asked cautiously. He didn’t want to upset her further. 

Seeing that Bryan didn’t press her on the apartment matter, Lizzy subtly sighed in relief, and her tone softened. She held out her hand. “Give it to me.” 

“What?” 

“The latte in your hand. Weren’t you going to give it to me?” 

“Oh, right! I almost forgot…” Bryan smiled again. 

After spending another week in the lab, Miranda managed to gather two more sets of data. Finally, they didn’t have to feel so rushed on their progress. 

Saturday, Miranda decided to give herself a day off. 

“Ms. Sutton, long time no see! Do you still recognize me?” Winter rested a hand on the window as she pulled up beside Miranda in her Ferrari convertible. She took off her sunglasses, revealing her bright and captivating eyes. 

The wind tousled her voluminous and wavy hair. Winter looked trendy and cool in her black jumpsuit, cinched with a thick belt. 

Miranda opened the passenger door and got in. She buckled her seat belt and said, “I wouldn’t dare to forget you! How could I ever forget my best friend and queen bee, Winter Jefferson?” 

Winter pinched Miranda’s soft cheeks playfully. “It’s only been two weeks. Have you been eating honey? Your words are like music to my ears!” 

“I don’t need honey. I’m naturally sweet like sugar.” 

“Fine, fine, you’re the sweetest! Buckle up, I’m taking you out for some good food!” 

“Let’s go!” 

Winter exclaimed, “Mimi, you’re just too adorable. If I were a man, I’d marry you on the spot!” 

Hansel, that jerk, wouldn’t even stand a chance! Ugh!

They headed to Lagoon Bay, a Yvonnian–style restaurant that had become incredibly popular recently, It was established in Elgerson many years ago but recently blew up thanks to a visit by an influencer that went viral. 

Many new customers rushed to give this restaurant a try, causing regular patrons to struggle to get a reservation. Winter had to book a table half a month in advance. 

Roasted quail was their signature dish. Miranda ordered a light appetizer before the roast quail was served. 

The skin of the quail was crispy, making it taste not at all greasy. With one bite, the tender juices of the meat burst in her mouth. The quail was perfectly cooked with a springy texture. No wonder it was the star of the menu. 

Winter said, “This restaurant has been open for over 20 years in Elgerson, but only foodies really know about it. Recently, a social media influencer visited this place and shot a video. The video blew up after she uploaded it on the internet. Gems like this restaurant can’t stay hidden anymore…” 

The first time Winter came to this restaurant was with her father. 

She knew Miranda was overworked in trying to catch up on progress with her experiments. With the weather getting hotter, greasy and heavy food wasn’t a good idea. Having some light Yvonnian cuisine was the perfect choice!
