Miranda, Madison, and Sebastian met at a café. 

As Miranda sipped her coffee, she shared the information she had gathered. “I did some research online. The requirements for laboratory construction are much higher than for regular buildings. 

“Plus, we must consider the security system layout after the lab is built. That can be tough for most construction companies.” 

Across from her, Madison focused intently on two slices of tiramisu. She quickly devoured them, but she was still listening attentively. 

“My dad knows a bunch of contractors, and a few of them do business around Jandersville. But when i asked yesterday, they said they only build houses, not labs,” she said. 

Miranda sighed. “We need professionals for this kind of work.” 

Sebastian added, “We should also hire an architect to act as a go–between for us and the construction company. Otherwise, there could be a miscommunication, and the final result might not be how we want

Over the next few days, the three of them stayed busy. When they weren’t in class, they were out and 

about. 

They looked into a few reputable construction companies, but none stood out. The architects either lacked the expertise to build a lab, or the costs were exorbitantly high. 

“I can’t take it anymore. I’m exhausted and need a break.” Madison slumped in her chair after visiting two construction companies. 

Sebastian hadn’t gotten much further, and things were even tougher for Miranda. 

Madison perked up after downing two bottles of soda. “I refuse to believe there’s not a single person in this huge city who can build a lab.” 

“I have an appointment with another company at 5:00 pm later. They have good credentials and a good reputation, so I’m heading over to check things out,” Miranda said. She glanced at her watch. It was already 4:20 pm, and she needed to catch a cab. 

Before she could flag one down, her phone rang. 

“Hello?” 

“Miranda, are you busy? It’s me, Jack.” 

“Jack?” 

Since Anna’s birthday banquet, Jack and Miranda hadn’t been in touch. They rarely called each other, so she didn’t immediately recognize his voice. 

“Are you at class right now? I’m doing something near Bedford College. Want to grab a bite to eat?” Jack 

asked

Just then, she received a text from the construction company saying the architect was suddenly unavailable for their meeting.
