“It’s getting late… Even if you’re coming to see us, you usually wouldn’t come at this hour. It’s not like you,” Aren remarked. 

Sam chuckled as he guided Aren toward the living room. “I come when I feel like it. I don’t need an appointment. You’re making it sound like a scheduled event, like I’m here for official business 

“Well, aren’t you always so busy? It’s not easy for you to make time,” Aren teased. 

“Grandpa, are you complimenting or criticizing me?” Sam laughed as Aren joined in heartily. 

Sam sank into the couch and felt something poking at him. When he reached down, he pulled out a book and looked at the cover. It read “Seven Days“. 

“Hey, isn’t this my book from the car?” Sam recognized it instantly. He often folded corners as bookmarks, and the creases were still there. 

“Yeah! I borrowed it from your car last time. It’s surprisingly good!” Aren admitted. 

Sam raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been reading it?” 

Aren nodded. “Got halfway through.” 

“So, before I arrived, you were just sitting here, reading it?” 

Aren adjusted his reading glasses that was still perched on his nose 

“Are your eyes okay with that?” 

“Why not? Can’t I read?” 

At this, Fiona, who was seated in her rocking chair, chimed in. “I told him the same thing! He should use a reading app like I do and listen to audiobooks. 

“He wouldn’t even need to strain his eyes; just pop on the audio, and it reads to him. Isn’t that more convenient?” 

Sam was genuinely surprised. “Grandma, you’re listening to this book too?” 

Fiona nodded enthusiastically. “Yes! Come here, Sam, have to tell you, this book is so captivating!” 

“Captivating?” he echoed. 

“Absolutely. Here, listen to the descriptions in the first two chapters. Just listen without reading, and you can imagine the scenes in your mind…” 

Sam took an earbud she handed him and settled in to listen.
