Mindy revealed the truth of what happened all those years ago to her parents. After they learned about the truth, their anger and hatred were inevitable. 

Fortunately, their health wasn’t affected, nor did either of them faint on the spot. Mindy felt greatly relieved when she saw them calm down. 

After two weeks had passed, the elderly couple seemed to have forgotten all about the incident. 

Mindy and Lionel decided not to return to Lumberville just yet. After discussing it, they chose to stay in Elgerson a little longer. 

They wanted to spend more time with Aren and Fiona. Other than that, they also wanted to keep an eye on them to prevent them from doing anything rash after learning the truth. The vengeful look in Fiona’s eyes and how she gritted her teeth in anger that day had been terrifying. Although she seemed to be fine after venting, Mindy couldn’t shake her unease. Lionel thought she was overthinking things. “I think your mom and dad are doing great. They’re laughing and smiling all day. It doesn’t look like they’re hiding anything.” 

Mindy shook her head. “You don’t understand 

“Understand what?” 

“I can’t explain it to you. I just feel uneasy.” 

This felt like… the calm before a storm. The more peaceful things seemed, the more dangerous it could be. 

After all, no one could tell when things might suddenly erupt into chaos! 

It was Aren’s 80th birthday on the 20th day of the month. The Garrison family had always been low–profile, so much so that most people in the elite society had nearly forgotten their family. 

Out of the blue, they were hosting a grand banquet. It felt almost surreal when people received the invitations. 

The Garrisons were an aristocratic family with a deep history and long lineage. For example, the famous Garrison Garden, which was a must–visit tourist attraction in Elgerson, used to be nothing more than the Garrison family’s summer retreat. Moreover, this wasn’t the only one. 

The Garrisons still owned five or six similar estates across the country.

If one were to trace back further, the Garrisons used to own more land. However, most of them were destroyed in the war, leaving only these few estates today. 

Years ago, rumors swirled around after the Garrison family’s daughter suddenly went missing. Some said she got abducted, others said she fled an arranged marriage, and some even thought she had been murdered.. 

Aren and Fiona were devastated. They reportedly retired abroad and planned to never return. However, no one expected such explosive news early in the year. Everyone was taken aback. 

A few people were discussing the news around a table. 

“I heard this banquet isn’t just to celebrate Mr. Garrison Senior’s birthday. The Garrisons are planning to announce their daughter’s return and celebrate her reunion with the family,” one of them said. 

“Reunion? What do you mean?” their friend asked. 

“You don’t know?” the first person replied. “This news has been spreading like wildfire! The missing Ms. Minnie has been found. Apparently, she’s back with a family of her own.” 

“What? Ms. Minnie has been missing for over 20 years! Did they actually find her? Could she be an imposter?”
