Chapter 0905
On second thought, Sawyer figured that Sam was Miranda’s older cousin. It was normal for him to be annoyed after seeing through his intentions. After all, it was natural for families to feel protective over young women like Miranda.
Sawyer quickly put on a smile. “Mr. Cooper, you’re right. Since I’ve delivered the invitation, I won’t disturb you any further.”
Tactfully, he took his leave, and Fiona walked him to the door.
At this point, Joli also spoke up, “Thank you for your hospitality, Mrs. Garrison. The food was delicious, and the strawberries were so sweet. It’s time for me to head back now.”
“Oh, are you not staying for dinner?” Fiona asked.
“No, no. I still have some work to do.” Joli waved his hands hastily.
“Alright then. Make sure to visit often!”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Joli turned to change into his shoes.
Miranda called out to Ian Lane, the chauffeur. “Mr. Lane, please give him a ride back.”
Joli waved her off. “There’s no need. I can go back to the lab myself.”
“Who said you can go back to the lab?”
“Huh?”
“Mr. Lane, drop him off at the entrance of Bedford College and make sure he
goes
in.”
Joli still wanted to go back to the lab and pull another all–nighter? Not a chance!
At this, Joli resigned himself to his fate. He shuffled out of the door and got into the car, seemingly dejected.
Seeing how tactful he was, Sam turned his gaze to Paul. He stood there, looking unconcerned and indifferent. The more Sam looked at him, the more irritated he felt.
“Dr. Jefferson, are you particularly free today?”
Sam’s question was clearly a hint for him to take his leave.
Paul pretended not to catch the hint and nodded. “I just finished a project, so I’m not too busy.”
Next, Sam glanced at his wristwatch. “It’s getting late. So…”
Paul replied smoothly, “Alright, I’ll head back then. Luckily, I’ve got some leftovers in the

fridge. I can have a meal after reheating them. Mrs. Garrison, thank you for today, and sorry for the trouble. Please take care of your health with the changing season. I’ll visit again soon.
“Absolutely not!” Fiona wouldn’t hear of him leaving. “How can you eat leftovers? There’s fresh, hot food here!”
“But…” Paul put on a troubled expression.
“No buts. It’s settled. You must have dinner before you go!”
“Well… alright then.”
“That’s more like it!” Fiona beamed happily.
Sam was at a loss for words. What a line! Reheating leftovers in the fridge? He clearly said that on purpose so that he could stay back!
Paul spread his hands and shrugged as if to say, “See, it was Mrs. Garrison who wanted me to stay. I have no choice.”
Sam clenched his jaw in frustration. He made no effort to hide the murderous urge in his
eyes.
At that moment, Aren came out from the study. “I heard that someone from the Jensens paid us a visit?”
Fiona nodded. “It’s that child, Sawyer. He came over to deliver the invitations for his grandfather’s birthday banquet next month.”
“I thought something big had happened. Why did he have to come over in person for something that an assistant or secretary could do?”
Fiona said, “That’s what I thought as well. But Sawyer said they needed to show their sincerity by delivering the invitations in person.”
Sure enough, Aren nodded approvingly. “Paul, are you free?”
