Tristan started driving as soon as I got in the car. Probably so I couldn’t protest and I curled up in my seat, a little uneasy.
My heart started pounding again and I could feel my palms getting sweaty. I couldn’t understand why Wendy wouldn’t call me and tell me that she was sending the twins. I was getting a bad feeling about this and I wasn’t even at the party yet.
“Wendy asked us if we could pick you up. Something came up unexpectedly.” Nathan said.
“Thanks.” I said. I was only going to this damn party because Wendy said that she wanted me there while she talked to this guy that she thought of as her soulmate. What the hell could have changed that she couldn’t call me?
I started staring at Nathan, looking into his eyes and remembering that dream that I had. They were as black as the wolf that was chasing me.
“Are you actually starting to fall in love with me?” Nathan teased.
But I quickly shook my head and stopped staring at him. I didn’t actually realize that I was staring, it was just fascinating that his eyes were like that. Did he wear contact lenses? I didn’t know anyone who could make their eye color change like that.
“Sorry. Your eyes are really dark. A lot darker than they usually are.” I said.
“Oh, so is that a compliment? Do you like the way I look?” He teased me. I looked away and out the window when he started doing that but I felt him lean over in the seat and place his hand on my knee. A little chuckle came from the front seat where Tristan was sitting and I was getting even more uncomfortable now.
“Look at me.” Nathan demanded. So I slowly turned back to look at him and he was staring into my eyes too.
“Be careful Nathan. She might actually like being told what to do.” Tristan added. And Nathan smiled while Tristan was watching in the mirror. But I wasn’t smiling. I kept telling myself that this was just another game to them. They were going to play with me for a little and then they were going to move on to the next shiny new toy that they saw. I have known guys like this my whole life. My mother used to date guys like this before she met Jack. And none of them could keep their hands to themselves either. Especially when she went out with friends and left them to babysit me.
And then she would come home all the time and take it out on me whenever one of her boyfriends had cheated on her. Like it was my fault that they were assholes or something. But she somehow always made it my fault.
I wasn’t sure what it was about these guys. Why did they have this effect over me? I could feel myself getting a little aroused as Nathan kept staring into my eyes but I did everything I could to stop it from happening.
Tristan finally stopped at the house where the party was being held. I looked out the window and it was a huge house. It wasn’t too far from where they lived. I mean, it was in the same neighborhood and it looked beautiful on the outside. It was massive and I could just imagine what it looked like on the inside.
It was two stories but it was made of red stones and massive pillars at the front entrance of the house. There were kids everywhere and some were acting like real idiots because they were drunk. I still wasn’t sure how I was going to like this party. But maybe it would get better for me when Wendy got here. I just hoped that she would hurry up.
I was about to pull my phone out when Leia suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She was probably standing outside the house waiting for the twins to arrive. But when she saw me in the car she glared at me and pulled the car door open and helped me out of the car, really roughly. It felt like she was going to pull my arm out of its socket.
She plastered on a fake smile for the guys, who had gotten out of the car and she leaned in towards me.
“I’m gonna make you regret coming to this party.” Leia whispered. And I had no doubt that she meant that. Causing my heart to start pounding even harder while her friends were glaring at me from behind her.
“What was that, Leia? I don’t think I heard you?” Nathan asked. But Leia just smiled at him and when she saw Tristan she practically pounced on him, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him.
“Are we still okay?” Leia asked, sweetly.
