Chapter 93: Truth in Sacred Waters
(Celeste’s POV)
(Flashback)
The sacred waters of Moon Lake rippled beneath the eerie crimson light of the Blood Moon.
Shadows danced on the water’s surface, distorted by the tension hanging heavy in the air.
My enhanced wolf senses picked up on the subtle changes in Scarlett’s aura. Her emerald
eyes shimmered unnaturally as she clung to both Alexander and Lucas, halting their every
move.
“It’s inappropriate for unmated males to act rashly in sacred waters,” Scarlett said, her voice
soft yet firm. Her wolf projected a false air of concern.
Every word she spoke was calculated. Every expression rehearsed.
My silver–scarred wolf recoiled, recognizing the layers of manipulation in Scarlett’s every
action. She wasn’t protecting any sacred traditions–she was binding the two strongest
wolves to her will, ensuring their inaction.
Her plan was obvious. She wanted me to act–forcing me to rescue Diana so she could credit
herself for “orchestrating” my actions.
I clenched my jaw, feeling the sharp burn of the moon’s crimson glow against my silver scars.
In this moment, Scarlett’s delicate performance was painfully clear.
She tightened her hold on Alexander’s arm, her voice trembling just enough to seem genuine.
“I can’t bear to risk anything happening to Diana–please, someone must do something, but…
protocol…”
The watching pack wolves stirred uneasily, swayed by her false despair. Her honeysuckle scent spread like a sickly–sweet perfume, masking her duplicity.
Alexander’s ice–blue eyes shot toward Diana struggling in the sacred water. His jaw clenched, his wolf bristling. Despite his obvious inner conflict, Scarlett’s grip tightened, keeping him
rooted beside her.
Lucas’s wolf growled softly, his frustration growing as Scarlett tilted her head up at him. She blinked tearfully, ensuring his focus remained solely on her.

“I–I just don’t know what to do,” she whispered, her fragile tone ensnaring his protective
instincts. “I… I thought the lake would be safe…”
Beneath her composed facade, I sensed her satisfaction. This was exactly as she planned- my move had already been decided for me.
With a deep breath, I dove into the cold, sacred waters.

The icy lake burned against my skin instantly. The sting seared through the fresh scars carved
by Victoria’s silver dagger. My wolf whined softly at the sensation, but I pushed forward.
Pain was familiar. This was nothing compared to the chains of Moon Shadow Prison.
I ignored the chill that seeped into my wounds, propelling myself toward Diana. Her golden
wolf’s frantic energy faded under the weight of exhaustion and panic.
She flailed weakly, her movements sluggish in the sacred waters. Fear radiated off her in
waves, tugging at my every instinct to move faster.
“You’re not dying today,” I muttered under my breath, my scarred wolf radiating grim
determination.
The cries from the shoreline became distant echoes. Scarlett’s fragile sobs blended with the
murmurs of onlookers. I blocked them all out, focusing only on getting Diana to safety.
I finally reached her struggling form, my violet eyes locking briefly with her terrified gaze. Her
nails clawed weakly at my arms, panic blinding her entirely to who was helping her.
“Stop,” I hissed, gripping her shoulders tightly. “If you keep fighting, we’ll both drown.”
Diana’s gasps grew sharper, but her body began to still. Her golden wolf, though battered and weary, finally recognized me through the chaos.
The burden of holding her weight in the water pulled heavily at my limbs, but I didn’t let it slow me down. My hands gripped tighter as I began dragging us both back to shore.
The sacred waters fought against me, pulling at every ounce of remaining strength I had. Pain shot through my arms with each motion, but I gritted my teeth, refusing to let Diana slip away.
Behind me, Scarlett’s voice carried over the water. Now, it was louder, more triumphant.
“Look! She’s saving Diana! Celeste understood me!”
Her words grated against my ears. Even amidst the struggle to keep Diana afloat, the
bitterness clawed at my chest.

Every step toward the shore felt heavier than the last. By the time I pulled Diana out of the water, Scarlett’s fake concern had transformed into glowing praise for her own foresight.
“She acted just as I hoped!” Scarlett declared to the gathering wolves. “See? I knew she could
help!”
I didn’t glance back at her. Instead, I focused on lowering Diana onto the grass. She coughed violently, spitting out sacred lake water, her body trembling with exhaustion.
Her golden wolf was already retreating deep within her, clinging desperately to survival after
being pushed to its limits.
Drenched and shivering, I rose slowly. My body screamed in protest, the burning silver scars
threatening to pull me under for a second time.
But I refused to show a single sign of weakness in Scarlett’s presence.

Now, Scarlett’s theatrics had reached their peak.
Her emerald eyes brimmed with perfectly timed tears, her wolf whimpering to accentuate her
words.
“I… I begged Celeste to save you!” she sobbed, clutching onto Alexander as though the memory were too painful to bear. “I couldn’t bear to risk anyone else! You… you have to understand, Diana–I only wanted to protect you!”
Lucas’s russet wolf bristled protectively beside her, his voice sharp as he glared at me. “Even
now, you mock her kindness, Celeste?”
His disgusted tone turned toward Diana as he added, “Scarlett is too pure–hearted for you to
accuse her of manipulation.”
Diana, still pale and trembling beneath her blanket, didn’t immediately respond. Her golden eyes flickered with faint disbelief as she turned her attention fully on Scarlett.
“Pure–hearted?” Diana repeated weakly, her voice scratchy yet steady. “Is it pure–hearted to stop my own brother from saving me?”
Lucas froze at the quiet accusation, his wolf stiffening beside Scarlett. For a moment, Scarlett’s theatrical sobs stalled, the weight of Diana’s words unsettling her.
Alexander, however, stepped forward determinedly.

“Apologize,” he said coldly, his ice–blue eyes narrowing at Diana. His wolf surged with dominance, filling the room with oppressive energy.
Diana’s golden wolf flinched beneath the overwhelming pressure, but she refused to lower her
gaze.
