Chapter 94: You hit me? For her?
Chapter 94: You hit me? For her?
(Celeste’s POV)
Blood dripped from Diana’s split lip, staining the pristine white sheets of her hospital bed. The metallic tang filled the room, hanging thick in the silence that followed Alexander’s actions.
Diana’s hand flew to her reddening cheek, her golden eyes wide with a mixture of shock and disbelief. She stared at her brother, her lip quivering as if she could barely process the
betrayal. “You… you hit me? For her?”
Her voice came out hollow, fragile. There was no rage behind it, only raw disbelief that cut sharper than any blade.
Alexander’s massive frame loomed over her, his white wolf’s icy fury radiating through the room. His ice–blue eyes bore into Diana as if daring her to question him further.
But before any response could come, Scarlett surged forward. She latched onto Alexander’s arm, placing herself partially in front of him. The movement seemed calculated, a shield to soak in his attention and prevent his temper from lashing out further.
“Oh no, please stop this!” she pleaded, her emerald eyes shimmering with perfectly timed tears. Even as her voice trembled, her grip on him remained firm. “Alex, she’s confused! You know how the sacred waters affect wolves in distress. Diana doesn’t mean what she’s saying!”
Her words came soft, almost melodious, with just the right mixture of concern and desperation. She turned her gaze on Diana, her lip trembling as if the sight of her injured friend
tore at her delicate heart.
“My dear, sweet sister,” Scarlett continued, her voice shaking. “You didn’t mean that, did you? It’s just… the panic. It’s clouding your mind.” Her wolf radiated a suffocating sweetness that prickled my silver–scarred wolf’s senses.
Diana flinched at Scarlett’s words, but not for the reasons Scarlett probably intended. Her grip on the hospital blanket shifted, her fingers twisting the fabric tightly as her golden wolf bristled weakly beneath her exhaustion.
“Confused?” Diana’s voice cracked, but there was fire behind the burn of her words. “Alex…” Her golden eyes lifted to her brother again. “You actually struck me… for her?”
Scarlett’s brows furrowed, her lips parting in an expertly faked expression of alarm. She turned

to Alexander, her wolf whimpering softly in submission. “Please, Alex, take her to another room,” she urged, tugging gently on his arm as if her fragile strength alone could pacify him.
“She needs care, not conflict,” Scarlett whispered, her eyes darting toward Lucas and me as if pleading for our agreement.
Alexander’s jaw tightened at Scarlett’s insistence. His ice–blue eyes flickered momentarily, anger giving way to conflict before he relented silently. Without a word, he grabbed Diana by her upper arm, pulling her up from the bed with little gentleness.
“Don’t touch me,” Diana hissed sharply, yanking her arm back. Her wolf growled faintly, though its energy was minimal, her exhaustion palpable. Still, she tried to stumble to her feet without his help, leaning heavily on the bed’s edge while glaring at Scarlett with unveiled disgust.
Alexander ignored her protests, gripping her arm more firmly. His silence said enough–he wouldn’t tolerate further defiance.
But as he led Diana from the room, his gaze flickered toward me, lingering for a heartbeat too long. His ice–blue eyes burned with a mixture of unreadable emotion that made my silver scars ache faintly.
The intensity of that stare wasn’t lost on Scarlett. I caught her emerald wolf bristling faintly even as her sweet facade remained intact. She clung tighter to Alexander’s arm as though trying to re–stake her claim, whispering soothing but hollow words to calm him.
Once the door swung closed behind them, the suffocating silence broke with a wave of tension, and Lucas rounded on me. His russet wolf’s energy surged into the space Alexander left behind, filling my quarters with its aggressive dominance.
“Are you satisfied now?” he barked, his voice trembling with rage. His golden eyes burned with fury as they locked with mine. “Did you want this–turning sibling against sibling? Creating conflict where there was none?”
The accusation rolled off him in waves, but I stayed still, my expression carefully neutral. I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of a reaction.
Lucas stalked closer, his towering form radiating frustration. “You just can’t help yourself, can you?” he snarled, his tone laced with bitterness. “Always causing problems, stirring the pack. What’s wrong with you?”
His words were sharp, each syllable meant to cut. His wolf prowled behind his golden eyes, fueled by the lingering tension. Every step he took brought him closer, his presence suffocating.

“Well?” he demanded, his voice louder this time, almost shaking with his escalating anger. “Say something! Nothing to say for yourself, Celeste?”
Still, I held my silence, refusing to rise to his bait. Around us, the room felt thick, every gaze watching, every breath charged with unspoken accusations.
Nina stirred by my side, her silver–gray wolf stiffening under Lucas’s aggression. She stepped forward slightly, her protective instincts flaring despite the battle scars still evident on her own
body.
“Young Alpha,” Nina said quietly, her tone sharp despite its softness. “Mind your tone.” The subtle command in those words hinted at her seniority, her experience–though I knew the risk
she took by challenging him.
Lucas’s attention snapped to her instantly, his russet wolf bristling as his dominance surged.
“Stay out of this, Beta,” he growled, his golden eyes narrowing fiercely. “This is between pack
siblings.”
My scarred wolf stirred weakly at those bitter words. A flicker of something–sadness
perhaps?-surfaced before fading just as quickly beneath layers of detachment. There was no meaning in Lucas’s claim of sibling ties. Not anymore.
With Nina silent again, Lucas’s focus shifted back to me. His frustration cracked, spilling over
into a relentless flood of accusations.
“You’ve done nothing but tear this pack apart since your return,” he spat. “How much more damage will you cause before you’re satisfied? How far will you go before you finally realize this isn’t your pack anymore?”
A flicker of something dark crossed his face. “You’re jealous, aren’t you?” His voice dropped lower, heavy with derision. “Jealous of Scarlett’s friendship with Diana? Is that why you’ve been spreading poison like this?”
The absurdity of his accusation twisted something in my chest, though I refused to let it show. His words, his tone–it all stung in ways I refused to acknowledge.
I finally spoke, my voice calm and even, carrying none of the heat Lucas poured into his accusations. “I merely spoke the truth, Lucas.” My gaze bore into his, unflinching. “If Diana can’t handle the truth, perhaps she shouldn’t have tried to drown me in sacred waters.”
The statement hit like a slap, visible in the slight recoil of his wolf. He tried to recover quickly, but the hesitation gave me an opening.
“That’s not-” Lucas began, his tone defensive, but Scarlett’s quiet sobs interrupted him.

“Brother…” she whimpered softly, her voice trembling. “I only stopped Alex because I knew
Celeste… Celeste could handle it. She’s the strongest swimmer!” Her emerald eyes shone with
innocent tears as her honeysuckle scent filled the room once more.
Lucas moved to her immediately, his wolf exhaling its aggression as it switched to
protectiveness. “Of course, precious sister,” he murmured, his voice soothing as though
comforting a frightened pup. “You were only thinking of everyone’s safety, weren’t you? Always
so selfless.”
The laugh that escaped me was bitter, broken. “The strongest swimmer?” I repeated, my
amusement laced with disbelief. “Is that what you’re calling it? When I was already weakened
from silver poisoning? From recent injuries?”
Lucas’s eyes hardened, but faint doubt flickered behind his golden gaze. Despite his protective
