An Understated Dominance (Maria Vittori) novel Chapter 1554

Another gunshot shattered the room, and another member of the Camron family fell to the ground.

There was a growing pool of blood marking the tragic scene. The meeting hall exploded in shock, cries, and pleas for mercy. It became a chaotic mix of sobs, shouts, and desperate appeals.

"You heartless monster! I'll take you down!"

Lana's eyes blazed with anger as she seized a knife from the floor and charged forward. Yet, Scott's bodyguards ruthlessly kicked her back down before she could rise.

"Ms. Camron, it seems these ordinary family members don't hold much weight for you compared to Dustin," remarked Scott, clapping his hands.

Soon, two burly bodyguards dragged in a middle-aged man. It was Matteo, Lana's father.

"Dad!" Lana's expression instantly shifted when she was her father; fear etched all over her face.

She didn't expect her father to be held hostage. It was a distressing turn of events.

"Ms. Camron, I'll give you credit for bravery, but if it comes down to choosing between your father and Dustin, who gets the nod?" Scott inquired.

"N-No ... Please, don't—!" Lana vigorously shook her head, tears streaming down her face.

Scott signaled, took the gun from his subordinate, and pressed it against Matteo's temple.

Once more, he stated, "I'll ask one last time. Will you agree or not? I'm running out of patience and don't have time to waste. I'll count down from three, and if you don't answer, I'll pull the trigger."

"Three ..."

"Two ..."

The shock made it hard for him to remain composed; he needed to release his pent-up emotions.

"You're right! This ungrateful woman is willing to sacrifice our Camron family for a little boy toy. She's a disgrace to our family!" Others joined in the accusations. In their eyes, Lana was a traitor.

Lana seemed oblivious to the condemnation and anger from others, sitting on the ground as if she had lost her soul.

As she stared at the drug on the table, her heart was a mess. Scott's subordinates kept a close watch, ready to act if she showed any sign of resistance.

For now, it seemed she had no choice but to follow orders and become a puppet in his game.

However, poisoning Dustin with her own hands was even more unbearable than her own death. She didn't know what to do; the decision was too difficult.
