An Understated Dominance (Maria Vittori) novel Chapter 1835

Lincon was the first to react. “Quick! Go after the military insignia!” he shouted. Eloise immediately commanded, “Go after it!”

Jaxon drew his sword abruptly. He led a squad of Draken Guardians in the direction where Elijah disappeared, racing after him.

“How could this happen?” Austin was bewildered, standing frozen, unsure of what to do. He hadn’t expected Elijah to snatch the military insignia, so he was completely unprepared. By the time he realized it, Elijah had already made a swift escape.

“Your Highness, Elijah is likely working for Julius,” Lincon explained with a grave tone.

He added, “His unwavering support for you and helping the castle maintain order was just a ploy to make you drop your guard. When the time was right, he’d seize the military insignia and push us into a corner.”

“Damn it! I never thought Elijah would be a traitor. How despicable!” Wyatt fumed.

“No wonder he kept suggesting using the military insignia to control the Black Dragon Army against Julius. He was laying the groundwork to snatch it. This guy is truly cunning!” Tyrus angrily exclaimed.

“If we can’t retrieve the military insignia and it falls into Julius’ hands, then we’re completely defeated!”

Eloise frowned. Her expression turned grim.

The Marshal’s military insignia determined the command of the Black Dragon Army. In the past, Julius used to pull strings and exert his influence to command the Black Dragon Army.

With the military insignia, he could openly order the entire army. In the face of 50 thousand troops at the city gates, no one across West Lucozia and beyond would be able to resist.

“Mom, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. If I had been more careful, this might not have happened.” Austin looked guilty. After all, losing the military insignia from his hands was a mistake for which he felt responsible.

“This has nothing to do with you. Elijah hid his true nature too well. None of us anticipated that he would be a traitor.” Eloise managed with a forced smile.
