Brandon’s feet halted. His face was as somber as a stormy night, fists clenched tightly. Just as he was about to push open the door to the private room, Melinda grabbed his arm. “Brandon! Don’t!”

Brandon gritted his teeth. “Why not?! I’m not just going to barge in there. I’m calling Elijah! He needs to see what kind of woman she really is!”

Melinda retorted, “And then what? What about the child in her belly? As far as I know, Elijah wants this baby. Let Violette give birth first. Then Elijah can confront her.”

Melinda’s words forcibly cooled Brandon’s boiling rage. Right! There was a child involved! If not for the child, he would have left Violette without a shred of dignity. The words she had just spoken were absolutely venomous! If Elijah heard, he might just kill her.

He felt as if he had drunk too much and was experiencing auditory hallucinations. Otherwise, how could such a horrifying, absurd thing happen?

“Brandon, you didn’t mishear.” Melinda’s hand clung tightly to his arm, fearing that in his impulsiveness, he would rush back to the hotel. “I heard it clearly. That was Violette’s voice. Violette said that Elijah couldn’t satisfy her in bed, so she...”
