Josey's POV
"Why has Aiden not been poisoned?" I ask my family. They all look around each other, not knowing what to say.
"I'll ask again. Anthony was poisoned. Why not Aiden?" I ask.
"Maybe he was and he healed himself?" CJ says to me.
"He was never sick! I mean Sabrina practically spray painted her event with his family's blood and left it for display all day. Would you not avenge them?" I ask and Hunter groans.
"Why would he harm Adrastos then?" Hunter asks.
"I mean we are right here. He could have started with me as the head of the snake." Hunter explains.
"No step dad. The note said he is starting with the weak ones. The more human ones, and unfortunately, as a baby, Drastos is weak." I say, the words coming out bitterly as I remember the state my nephew was in when we found him.
Using all of her power and strength to save him.
"I mean you make a fair point. Hurting Sabrina's past mates is a game only a lover would play." Anthony says and I nod my head.
"You forgot something though. Why has Brina not looked for comfort in his arms? They just completed the mating process and she couldn't be more lonely!" I say, my mother finally getting it.
"It's starting to make sense now." Hunter says.
I mean, I could say a lot more.
Like how Aiden never spends time with his step child or talks lovingly about him. I also don't think I have ever seen Adrastos in his arms, ever. I could be wrong but everything is pointing to him, my sister's one true mate.
The one she is supposed to spend thousands of years with.
"Please stop." Sabrina walks in on us, eyes looking tired.
"Come on! It all makes sense." I say and Sabrina shakes her head no.
"That is my mate you're talking about. Get proof." She says before turning her attention to Hunter.
"I need your approval on a new rule. No one is to visit earth with your approval. They have no business there and it will help us monitor the comings or goings." Sabrina says.
"I can create a barrier that prevents anyone from going. Once Hunter approves them, I'll let them through. I'm bored out of my mind these days anyway." Mother suggests.
"Yes, that could work. Please start on that barrier now." Sabrina asks mother.
"What's the rush?" Anthony asks Sabrina, who looks around before turning back to us.
"Max is awake. I was finally able to heal him completely so he's ready to go back but I'll only allow his return to earth if the barrier is complete." I say.
"I did say that boy was strong. You know, if we are talking about genes alone, that was a good choice for a baby daddy. I'm telling you!" I say, everyone looking at me funny.
"Well, am I wrong?" I ask, Anthony being the only one to shake his head no.
