She let out a moan when the pain became too much to bear. 

Kira closed her eyes, trying to recall what happened. 

She had gotten in the Hummer, then she must have fainted, and that was all she remembered. 

A noise came from the door. 

Kai pushed it open and walked in. 

He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw her. “Thank god you’re awake. How are you feeling 

Kira’s throat was parched. ‘I…I’m in the hospital?” 

‘Yes. You fainted in the car. Boss asked me to drive here straightaway. He carried you to the emergency room. That was a couple of hours ago.” 

Kai thought back to what happened earlier. 

The Hummer had not come to a complete stop before Boss shot out of the car with Kira in his arms. 

His hand was still bleeding, but he paid it no heed.

Kira ordered herself not to overthink. 

“What’s wrong with my arm?‘ she tried lifting her right arm, but gave up when the pain came back. 

‘Blunt force trauma. Luckily, the vase didn’t break when it hit you. Otherwise, you could’ve been cut by the shards. There may be some swelling in the area for the next few days. The doctor said it’s best if you avoid using that arm for the time being.‘ 

“Okay.‘ Kira nodded and struggled to sit up in bed. 

‘You shouldn’t move so much,‘ Kai said. ‘Your arm’s going to hurt.” 

Kira pointed to the bedside table. ‘Could you help me fetch a glass of water, please?! 

‘Sure.‘ Kai poured water for her. 

“Thank you.‘ Kira took the glass and downed half of it in one long gulp. 

Feeling some strength returning to her body, she set down the glass. ‘Kai, I have some questions.” 

‘Okay.‘ Kai was expecting this. 

‘Do Austyn and Liam know each other?”
