Filing the papers, even through the simplified track, required multiple documents the Writ for Divorce, the Statement 

of Claim, the Statement of Particulars and at least three other forms. 

Kira decided to skip the legal mumbo jumbo and start with the basics. 

She found a printable template for a divorce agreement and filled in the details. 

The idea of a divorce was not made on the spur of the moment. 

If she had to trace its origin, it probably started the night Austyn left the villa after getting a call from Kayleigh. 

Her plan was to wait till graduation in a year. 

Money might not buy happiness, but it would buy her the right to speak. 

As soon as she got a job and could stand on her own two feet, she could leave Austyn. 

But Kira didn’t think she could wait any longer. 

She could live with a cold, aloof, indifferent Austyn. But she couldn’t live with a man who might get violent.

The doorbell rang 

‘I’ll get it!‘ Giana shouted from the kitchen. 

Kira sat back in the chair. 

The form tan sixteen pages long, requiring information like personal particulars, marriage date, arrangements for spousal support, property, debts, taxes and so on. 

It was giving her a headache. 

A banner ad next to the form kept flashing. 

Its title screamed ‘How To Take Your Cheating Husband To The Cleaners In A Divorce!” 

Kira minimised the window. 

She didn’t want to get anything from Austyn. 

She just wanted to leave him. 

“Aaahh!” 

‘Giana!‘ Kira sprang out of her chair at the sound of her friend’s scream. 

She pulled up short as soon as she saw the man standing in the open doorway.

saw her at the same time. 

He stepped around Giana, coming towards Kira with long strides. 

His eyes were bloodshot. 

Kira turned and ran. 

She didn’t know why she did that, but she just knew she didn’t want to face Austyn at the moment. 

Austyn covered the short distance from the doorway to the bedroom in three strides. 

Kira’s waist was gripped from behind. 

Then she was pushed into the bedroom. 

The door was kicked shut with a loud bang. 

Austyn spun her around, trapping her between the wall and his body. 

Kira’s jailbreak lasted all but two and a half hours.

In the living room, Giana glared at the other intruder. ‘What are you doing here?‘ 

Kai cleared his throat, offering a sheepish smile. ‘Miss Mills, we’ve met before. I drove you home from The Analogue last time, remember? I’m Mr McCarthy’s assistant. My name is- 

‘I didn’t ask who you are.‘ Giana cut him off. ‘Of course I remember you. I asked what you’re doing here in my house!! 

‘Uh, Boss is here to pick up Young Madam, so…” 

‘Does he always barge into other people’s houses to pick up his wife?‘ Giana pointed at her bedroom door, shut tightly. “That’s my room! This is trespassing!” 

“But Young Madam ran away. You helped her. Which is aiding and abetting.‘ 

Giana was speechless. 

‘I’m sorry for the way we came, but it couldn’t be helped,‘ Kai said. ‘Boss is just worried about her.” 

Glana headed for her bedroom. 

‘I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Miss Mills.‘ Kai shifted his body and blocked her path.. 

“Why not? It’s my house, and it’s my room!! 

“They might be, uh, getting busy in there. I don’t think they want to be interrupted. 

When Giana caught on to what he was saying, she blushed. ‘But it’s my house! He can’t…Get out of my way!’ 

“I’m sorry, Miss Mills. Kai didn’t budge. 

Giana gnashed her teeth. 

Kira breathed in the man’s familiar minty scent. 

She tried to back away from him, but he had one hand on her back. 

It cushioned the impact when she was pushed against the wall, but it also cut off her exit. 

She was trapped in his arms. 

“Why did you run?” 

Standing this close to him, Kita could feel the vibration in his chest as he spoke. 

‘What are you doing here?” 

She didn’t answer his question. 

Not did she ask how he managed to track her down. 

She knew how resourceful the man could be. 

‘I asked you first.‘ Austyn pulled her in. 

Ow!! 

‘What’s wrong?” He immediately released his grip on her wrist.
